Original Synthesis

edit

Hi. I have removed part of what you added to the Durex article and I wanted to explain why.

What you were adding is what is referred to on Wikipedia as Original Synthesis. That means you were adding content, and sourcing it (which is always a good thing), but only for the purposes of constructing a new point from those sources. That is; you were creating a point that wasn't in your sources, but could be made by combining your sources. This isn't permitted on Wikipedia. In your case you were explaining the manner of the company's marketing (source A) by attributing it to Chinese cultural attitudes (source B). You cannot combine sources in this manner to make your point. You need a source that already makes the connection between the two for you.

Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:38, 15 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
