Speedy deletion of Collar Free edit

A tag has been placed on Collar Free, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Help edit

{{helpme}} There is a CollarFree page that has been deleted, (not the one below) and it's telling me I can't put the {{helpme}} tag on that page? I am looking for help there please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenmitch (talkcontribs)

Do you mean User:Jenmitch/CollarFree? Are you talking about the helpme tag? That tag is only to be used here on your talk page. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 20:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that is the page I am referring to. Apologies for placing it in the wrong place. Can you please help me figure out how to edit the User:Jenmitch/CollarFree page so it does not get marked for speedy deletion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenmitch (talkcontribs)

If you could find one or two more sources to support the notability of the company outside of San Diego, I think you would have a good chance at seeing the article survive. Since the company is so new, you have to do a lot to prove that the company has longevity and is likely to remain notable for the foreseeable future. Otherwise it just looks like an attempt to advertise. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 12:18, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your feedback. I have added a few more references- one that shows they won an International "best of design competition companies" award last year as well as their recent "Best of San Diego," award. I also included a bit more basic verbiage which will hopefully lend to the credibility of the page. Let me know your thoughts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenmitch (talkcontribs)

I made some changes to make the refs look better. I'm still not sure if you've established the notability. The OMG Tees ref doesn't help. I guess a good question is why do you want to make an article about this company? -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:38, 21 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

A few reasons. I am trying to learn more about the social media space in general, and I think Wikipedia is a big part of that. I wanted to add a page and try my hat at it- and be successful. But I wanted to add a page that has meaning to the community I live in. I love this company because they are taking fashion and social media and combining the two ideals. I bought one of their T-shirts a few months ago and it's my favorite one by far. (My daughter and I fight over who gets to wear it.) I have also noticed many more people are wearing their T's around town- esp. the Obama T-shirts. I would like to keep contributing to the Wiki community. It was really just one of the few social media spaces I hadn't dipped my foot into and this company seemed like a good fit. Hope that helps.
