Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Charlesknight (talkcontribs) 12:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Please stop adding commercial links to Wikipedia, as you did in Linkin Park. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. --AbsolutDan (talk) 12:56, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Links to lyrics are not appropriate for Wikipedia articles, partly due to the fact that lyrics from songs written by major bands are almost always copyrighted, and unless a website has permission from each band to post those lyrics, it is violating the copyright. Even if lyrics were ok though, you are spamming by adding these links to multiple articles. Please see WP:SPAM, particularly the section "how not to be a spammer". Wikipedia is in need of more cited content from reliable sources, not more external links. Thank you. --AbsolutDan (talk) 13:06, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nope, I don't consider that other link you mention useful, so I have removed it as well. If you run across links that are inappropriate, feel free to remove them yourself. See WP:EL and WP:MOS for some guidance regarding what types of links are appropriate and inappropriate. --AbsolutDan (talk) 13:14, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
The WP:MOS link above doesn't contain the information i was referring to - one of the sub-pages does though. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) instead of WP:MOS for info on external links (as well as WP:EL). --AbsolutDan (talk) 13:19, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
