Hmm... "Ill" in this case seems to mean "aware of and willing to edit to Wikipedia policy about verifiability and reliable sources. Please note that I merely added "citation needed" and similar tags. Another editor then agreed with me, and then some, having deleted those unsupported claims completely. Of course, if you can find a reliable source for them, that will receive quite a different reception. Any light fixtures?

Do you have any evidence that any light fixture could be used to transmit audio? Why haven't other types of light fixtures been used for this?--Wyn.junior (talk) 03:53, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

They have been. But the routine installation (and public acceptance) of listening devices in public spaces is relatively new (post-9/11 and all that). So it's a coincidence of timing. Places are interested in refitting with new energy-saving light fixtures and if they can "bug" the place at the same time, why not?

But the only thing really new here is that nobody is trying to keep it a secret. Light fixtures and lamps have been used as hiding places for "bugs"—listening devices—for decades. Read any book on the technology of espionage, particularly of the Cold War period.

The question for you is, what is it about an LED-illuminated light fixture that would make it particularly suitable for this, as opposed to any other type? Not a darn thing that I can figure out. And I'm very well familiar with the principles of operation, and of application, of both LEDs and microphones. LEDs themselves, like most diodes, are only just barely microphonic; if you want to pick up sound, you are far better off using an actual microphone element. Jeh (talk) 05:07, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Your LED deletions

You deleted sections because other types of lighting can be used for listening devices and also for cardiac rhythms. If that is adequate reasoning for deletion, then I have to bring to your attention that other types of lighting can be used for lighting also.--Wyn.junior (talk) 00:21, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
