Conflict of interest edit

Hi Jeff! You may be wondering why we are reverting your edits at 2009–2011 Toyota vehicle recalls. We mean no insult to you. However, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest says that editors should not make edits about themselves or referring to themselves as references. Instead, it is best to propose your changes on the talk page and then let other editors not directly linked to you check to see if the changes are unbiased. It is tempting for some book authors to effectively use Wikipedia as an advertisement for their books or are using self published, self edited books as a way to push a particular opinion. We are not saying that you are necessarily doing this, only that we need to be vigilant against those that do. We welcome you to our community and hope that we can work fruitfully together.  Stepho  talk  11:42, 25 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

In answer to your email: no you are not banned from editing the article, your expertise is welcome. However, since you have a conflict of interest (using references to yourself) and we don't know whether your intentions are honest or selfish, the normal procedure is for you to introduce yourself on the article's talk page and explain the changes you wish to make. The other editors will then try to determine if you are honest or selfish. This isn't meant as an insult to you or as a way to ban your contributions - it is just a way to keep out those who put their own interests above that of Wikipedia. This policy can seem harsh to to those that are honest but the lowlife's of this world make it necessary. Please, introduce yourself on the talk page. If all is above board then the changes you want will get into the article.  Stepho  talk  21:15, 25 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
