a request

After leaving my comment, at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/To_Beep_or_Not_to_Beep, I took a closer look at your nomination.

Uh-oh.

You wrote "Has no visible verifiable references from reliable sources." Your use of the word "visible" is the disturbing element. There are a minority of contributors who regularly initiate AFD, who totally reject any idea that they have any obligation to perform their own web search, so they can reach an independent conclusion as to whether the article's underlying topic measures up to our inclusion criteria. (I've encountered a couple of individuals who claim they complied with BEFORE, who are clearly aren't making any effort to comply.)

Yet policy requires nominators to perform this test, because it has always been policy that weak articles on notable topics are supposed to be improved, or tagged for improvement - not deleted.

If you are going to continue to participate in AFD may I request you consider doing your best to comply with WP:BEFORE? Geo Swan (talk) 21:37, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

@Geo Swan: Sorry, "visible" was part of my prefilled PROD rationale in my Twinkle configuration at User:Jeff G./twinkleoptions.js for almost nine years, since the time of invisible references. I just removed it. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and I will comply with WP:BEFORE.   — Jeff G. ツ 01:03, 4 April 2020 (UTC)

regarding the deletions of my changes on Chennupati Jagadish page

Hi Jeff, Greetings. I hope you are doing well. I just realized that the changes I made on Chennupati Jagadish (with his permission only) were deleted and would like to know if anything wrong in the content or the way I am doing. I am new to wiki and wondering for your valuable suggestions. I am also interest to work on another page: "Poorna Malavath". I would greatly appreciate you if you can guide me for the same..

Looking forward to hearing from you, Sincerely, Kiran — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkiran1982 (talkcontribs) 23:57, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

@Dkiran1982: It was Diannaa who made the move to "remove some of the unsourced content" in this edit.   — Jeff G. ツ 01:03, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

@Lu williamson: What can you tell us about the name and lifetime of the original photographer and the dates and countries of photography and publication?   — Jeff G. ツ 13:50, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Draft: Žiga Petrič

Greetings Jeff,

thank you for checking my draft and for your swift response. Unfortunately it left me with more confusion than solutions, so I am writing you in hope of a better outcome. I do not represent any company or organization, furthermore I definitely do not get paid for any of the articles I would like to write, if I will ever even be able to. The first subject I wrote about is already deceased and according to your response will probably not even get an English wikipage, at least the one I created. Which brings me to confusion part; the article is fairly short, half of it are direct quotes and on top of that I marked 10 different sources, which to my knowledge is above average for such a such article. I believe I've done my part firm and fair, however I do understand your position since you have a lot of responsibility as one of the Wikipedia moderators, which I appreciate. My biggest issue, actually, was the pictures of the subject I could not upload, that were created and are owned by myself, but I assume I probably already shut that door as it is. Anyways, thank you again and God bless... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blazpetrich (talkcontribs) 11:00, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

@Blazpetrich: Are you a relative of the subject? How did you get close enough to him to snap such photos? Why did you choose to write about him?   — Jeff G. ツ 12:58, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
I am a fan of the sport who knew the deceased, and that is how I made the photographs. I do understand your point of view as I've mentioned before. However, If you read the article, perhaps you can show me the parts that you do not like, so I can learn from you, the proper way of writing on Wikipedia. That way I can avoid doing the same mistakes in the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blazpetrich (talkcontribs) 15:48, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
@Blazpetrich: There is nothing in particular that I don't like, but I would recommend you review WP:REFB.   — Jeff G. ツ 00:54, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
