St. Luke's Hospital, Rathgar

Hiya,

I see what happened there with reflinks / EC,

I was just tidying up post-AFC creation / after chatting with the user in live help,

I will leave you to it (to avoid EC); I'll check back on the article some time later. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  17:58, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. I've opened a section to discuss possible DYK hooks at Talk:St. Luke's Hospital, Rathgar#Possible_DYK_Hooks.   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:01, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
I was away from Wikipedia for a few days, and now I check back, I see nothing happened, therefore I've written a submission myself, here - I hope it isn't too late. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  15:24, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I've been pretty busy myself.   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:46, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi i'm new here so i really don't know how this works, so about the articles that a changed, actually, some people changed the contries of come morrocan cities to "Western Sahara", but western sahara is not even a country, for now is a separatist group! so correct me if i'm wrong but what you're asking me to do is to make a commant in the small box under the article after a made an edit? thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moamem (talkcontribs) 20:32, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

TFA Seiyuu

That info came from the Japanese Wikiapedia.72.184.129.252 (talk) 01:18, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

No Wikipedia is a reliable source, sorry.   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:19, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
That really makes no sense that wikipedia can not rely on itself. But while Wasp and Shockwave's seiyuu were confirmed days after their debut episode aired, there are sources in the case of Omega and Rodimus that confirm their seiyuu's involvement.72.184.129.252 (talk) 01:24, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Reavis High School

Hi. When you get a chance could you please restore the Reavis High School site to the way it looked around July 2010. There has been a group of vandals that trashed out the site and I had removed and tried to clean it up but there is too much work and I do not know how to restore it back to the way it looked in July. Thank You so much in this important matter to me and many others.Chico 9 (talk) 02:14, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Bias policy is being violated

You are telling me to not violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, on the John Birch Society article.

That's why I've removed the biased description that was originally there. The original (and now current version) describes the John Birch Society (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Birch_Society) as a "radical right-wing" organization. I have removed "radical right-wing" because that description introduces bias and it is not compatible with Wikipedia's neutral point of view. A neutral point of view would look like this: "The John Birch Society is an American conservative political organization".

Please do not introduce bias into this article and please do not violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, as you have with this edit.

Jcncnc (talk) 23:38, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

The appellation is supported by multiple verifiable references to reliable sources. If you have competing references, please discuss them in one of the existing discussions (or start your own) at Talk:John Birch Society.   — Jeff G.  ツ 23:41, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Then we need to indicate that all the verifiable and reliable sources that call the John Birch Society a "radical right-wing" organization are all on the political left. That needs to be stated in order to insure a neutral point of view. Jcncnc (talk) 19:20, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Changing font style of signature

How do you change the font style of your signature? Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:39, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

With raw wikitext / wikimarkup or HTML. You can copy someone else's, put it into the box to the right of "Signature:" on Special:Preferences (with your changes), and then check the checkbox below it (because you are using raw wikitext / wikimarkup or HTML). I would suggest playing with it in a sandbox and using preview a lot before going live.   — Jeff G.  ツ 00:44, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Uw-username

Hey Jeff. There's not really much point in slapping a uw-username on the talk page of an indef'd editor and you wiped my block notice when you did it. I assume you didn't mean to, but try to be careful. You might like User:NuclearWarfare/Mark-blocked script.js, which makes all links to a links to a blocked editors user or talk page appear with a line through them and italicised if they're indef'd. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:07, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, that was an edit conflict. I must have had the page open for editing for about 11 minutes while I was doing something else. I did not intend to remove your block notice. Thanks for the pointer, I have added that script to my monobook.js.   — Jeff G.  ツ 18:20, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

The IP

Hi, I've just noticed you talking to that IP about Rafael Cavalcante, since I have the IP on watchlist. Just to let you know that the IP is correct. Though not conventionally sourced, all mixed martial artists have an external link to sherdog at the bottom of their page. On that page, you can find the proof of Cavalcante being a light heavyweight fighter. All the best! Paralympiakos (talk) 19:52, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. Would it be too much trouble for editors of those articles to put "per sherdog" or similar in their Edit Summaries?   — Jeff G.  ツ 19:54, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
I think the rationale involved is that anyone who views the edit is an MMA fan, who by default would know that Feijao is that weight. I think that the sport is secluded enough that a lot of us think that no-one else would possibly get involved. Unfortunately, recent changes can sometimes drag in those uninvolved with the sport and problems arise (not that I blame you at all). Paralympiakos (talk) 20:09, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Unbiased, Relevant and Constructive images being removed

Hey Jeff,

I'm trying to figure out why you are removing my edits to DART's Wiki page. I'm also wondering why you are planning on blockinm me from editing it, from this computer at least :). How is am image biased? How does this violate any terms of use? Do you think the people researching DART do not deserve to know their most valuable assett is not safe in their parking lots? Do you not think they would find it productive to know that they are taking a huge financial risk simply by parking in these lots. I think they have the right to know. When I was researching DART it would have been a godsend for someone to of done what I am trying to. I would have saved thousands, and they could too. Is that not productive? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.96.192.34 (talk) 20:04, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

I am sorry to hear what happened to your vehicle, but I would be very surprised if the DART parking lots did not have some sort of legal disclaimer like "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LEFT IN YOUR VEHICLE" or "PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK". Your accounts of what happened to you are primary sources; Wikipedia relies on verifiable information from reliable secondary sources.   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:08, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Coventries

Hello G, I did a stupid thing I have been working on the article I posted and did not mean to make it live In fact, there's already an article on the subject, the artist Keith Coventry, on Wikipedia and I was planning to integrate it with the existing one and was using 'Coventries' as temp file name for my reference only before I did so. But I sent it live - and then I made it blank thinking, as you surmised, that it would delete it. I have looked at the guide notes on this, but wondered if you could suggest the best thing to do. I would really like to incorporate what I have written into existing wiki entry as I have worked very hard on it. Viccol —Preceding unsigned comment added by Viccol1 (talkcontribs) 20:29, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

You can still copy it from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Viccol1/Coventries&oldid=384644038 or http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Viccol1/Coventries&action=edit&oldid=384644038   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:36, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for showing me I can retrieve the information, but I am still left with the problem that I have created a page - Coventries - that I have no need for. I suppose I have to go through the procedure outlined to remove it, yes? Can you assure me this will not mean I will be banned from making Wikipedia entries? Viccol —Preceding unsigned comment added by Viccol1 (talkcontribs) 20:53, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

You can keep it now that it is a user subpage User:Viccol1/Coventries. When you are ready to have it deleted, just tag it {{db-g7}}.   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:55, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Reverting edits

If someone removes most of the information that is on article about somebody which includes removing categories even if they put an edit summary is that edit still vandalism? Wayne Olajuwon chat 20:32, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Generally because a whitelisted user (another person reverting vandalism) got to that particular vandalism first.   — Jeff G.  ツ 21:12, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Content for Brand Licensing Page

Hi Jeff,

My name is Pete Canalichio and I have been trying to contribute to the content on the "brand licensing" wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brand_licensing. The current content is from a legal perspective and we would like to provide a "brand" perspective to the information.

I have several years of experience in brand licensing and have authored several copyright modules on the topic. I had referenced one of these modules - "Introduction to Brand Licensing" in the content that I added in.

Here is the summary of the edits I provided: Gave a definition of brand licensing from a business perspectives. Included sections on why companies license brands, expectations of licensors and licensees, explained the brand licensing process including the licensed product process flow and the royalty payments process flow.

Here is a link to the history of edits we have made: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Brand_licensing&action=history

We'd appreciate any help in improving the current content on the page.

Thanks, Pcanalichio (talk) 00:36, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Pete

If they are using it as a gadget, they can go to Special:Preferences, click the "Gadgets" tab, and uncheck the box for Twinkle. If they are using it as a script in their monobook.js, vector.js, or other .js file, they can remove it from that file like you did in these edits.   — Jeff G.  ツ 00:14, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

3RR in spades

Nydied [3], [4], [5], [6] (last is revert as he had questioned cite for him being founder of company - I furnished the cite, and he then edits the same sentence to "was at one time" known - which certainy appears to be a revert and not a simple edit (his adding tags etc. do not count for sure). 4RR in barely over an hour. Who are other "such folk"?   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:59, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Folks who fail to understand the sound basis for WP:BLP and the absolute requirement for strong reliable sources for anything contentious. This is a cornerstone for WP. Collect (talk) 03:01, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia is also not supposed to be a place where we avoid facts published in major news sources. --Nydied (talk) 03:03, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Your first source for very contentious claims about a living person was weak, and then you edit warred about it. In the current climate here, that is a recipe for disaster. PLEASE slow down and follow {{cite web}} and WP:3RR - given the current landscape, if the past is any indication, this candidate will probably shoot himself in the proverbial foot many times before election day.   — Jeff G.  ツ 03:10, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Hi Jeff. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you, but there is something strange happening as a result of a combination of WikEd (gadget available to all editors) and your Edit PageNotice for this page. I was here reverting some strange vandalism (which was redacted once, but somehow showed up again) when I noticed that I was unable to edit your page. Clicking edit on the whole page, or on a section, would result in the same thing - the page displays with the edit notice, but then the edit box is disabled. When I temporarily deleted your edit notice I was able to edit the page. Also, when I temporarily disable WikEd gadget I am also able to edit - so it's some combination of those two. Problem happens on both IE and Firefox for me.

I thought it might be related to the IP addr you have commented out in your page notice (which is blocked by my company firewall as a malicious site) but even if I remove that IP the same problem still happens. In any case, maybe it's just an issue on my side but you may want to play around with your page notice if others are mentioning the same problem to you.

Regards,  7  06:44, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi 7. Thanks for everything you've done while I was out. I had not heard of the problem you described before. In an attempt to fix it, I have made two changes to my editnotice - please try again. Thank you.   — Jeff G.  ツ 12:47, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Protection of User talk:Jeff G.

Note to anyone considering protecting this page: I think it is only fair to newbies I contact that I keep this page open for editing by all, even if that means it gets vandalized sometimes. With 132 people watching it, it shouldn't stay vandalized for long.   — Jeff G.  ツ 14:01, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

A note, Jeff, generally I only protect this page if widescale distributed attacks are inbound on a particular page. If you don't want me to do that, I can certainly agree to that, but note that the only real alternative would probably be a page history with a million revision deletions in it. I don't like to protect my talk page either, but there comes a point when things like 30 minute protection are better. But naturally it's your own choice. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 04:19, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
OK, I can make an exception for widescale distributed attacks. I guess I should be honored - if they're attacking me, I must be doing something right.  :)   — Jeff G.  ツ 04:25, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Is this edit vandalism? Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:53, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

I don't think so. Read the original Edit Summary here - the user is removing 10KB of excess detail about the producer's decisions regarding a particular soap opera, in favor of having that detail in the soap opera's article. Such an idea has merit, but should be discussed on one or both of the relevant talk pages now that it has been reverted.   — Jeff G.  ツ 22:57, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Vidyodaya School

Hi Jeff. This looks to me like the Corenbot has plaed a copyvio on a page that is a duplicate resulting form a wrong recreation instead of a move. The original page was first named Vidyodaya school (with a small 's'). Perhaps you could have a look at this mixup as I'm not sure what to do with it, then I'll know for next time I come across a case like this. Thanks.--Kudpung (talk) 01:23, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

The "author" who copied it (Spiritofyuva) has requested deletion per WP:CSD#G7, I also think it should be deleted, but my reason is to make way for a move.   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:26, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
All done.   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:28, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Why are you reverting their edits?   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:44, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Because he/she/they keep information that isn't sourced and have yet to add any sources to supplement that information, hence the edit wars. 72.185.171.33 (talk) 02:01, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Edit warring is not the answer.   — Jeff G.  ツ 23:17, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Pending changes/Straw poll on interim usage

Hi. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. This new poll is only in regard to this issue and sets no precedent for any future usage. Your input on this issue is greatly appreciated. Off2riorob (talk) 23:37, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Template:RE listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Template:RE. Since you had some involvement with the Template:RE redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Bridgeplayer (talk) 10:52, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Huggle September 2010

Is there a way to revert more than one users edits on Huggle because the edits are mostly reverted by one user? Wayne Olajuwon chat 20:34, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

In a word, yes. While you are viewing a particular revision of a particular page, if it isn't the last one for that page, that revision and any after it will be reverted if you take most of the revert actions in Huggle (except the "revert only the selected revision" action).   — Jeff G.  ツ 01:11, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay. Wayne Olajuwon chat 01:17, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
