Speedy deletion nomination of John Darnell (Musician)

edit

Hello Jdarne01,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged John Darnell (Musician) for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Kavdiamanju (talk) 18:34, 10 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia & autobiographies

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself, at John Darnell (musician). Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Based on your username, the fact that you have only edited this one subject, and the number of preceding comments by other editors it is clearly that everyone has assumed that you are either John Darnell or somebody closely associated with him. As previously stated by others writing your own biography or the biography of someone closely associated with you on Wikipedia is actively discouraged - see WP:AUTO.

In addition in order to establish notability any biography of a living person needs demonstrate significant coverage in multiple independent verifiable secondary sources - see WP:ANYBIO. Social media websites, personal websites and blogs are not considered to be reliable independent sources.

Finally in the case of a musician in order to establish the artist’s notability the article should address at least one of the criteria under WP:NMUSICIAN. I hope that this advice clarifies my position in respect to your draft article. Dan arndt (talk) 11:57, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
