License tagging for Image:Manan-duncan.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Manan-duncan.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:27, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Recent upload of multiple images

edit

I am concerened about the recent series of images you've been adding to articles, specically the Celtic deities articles. Do you have artist permission for these? Fair use may cover an article about the artist who produced the work, but it does not cover articles unconnected to that artist. Please post with each image that you have the express permission of the artists in question. If you do not have that permission in writing, I'm afraid you are going to have to delete the images. Thanks. --Kathryn NicDhàna 21:11, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Jay says: I misunderstood what fair use meant, but have read it more carefully and I think (hope) I understand now. I've taken down the images and marked them for deletion. I think I can find some alternative images with direct permission from the artists. What sort of tag would it be though, if the artist okays it for everything but commercial redistribution?
