Levante edit

Saludos, -80.139.169.147 02:04, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hola.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it was the Opera logo that I found. It's great. Do you have time to do other logos? I am wondering if you would be willing to do one for the Wagner Project, based on a picture of Richard Wagner? Best. -- Kleinzach 00:35, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image in signature edit

Greetings, Javitomad. I do understand that you may have many reasons to be proud of your origin (many people do), and I hate to be the one to break this to you, but using images in signatures can create a series of problems, which is why they are discouraged by the relevant policy on signatures. It might be best, therefore, if you could try and come up with a signature that does not feature an image. You can have a look at this page if you are looking for ways to do this, and I believe that there is a user who creates custom signatures and has helped a lot of users acquire great signatures that do not violate policy. Again, this is most regrettable, but something good might come out of it. Regards, Waltham, The Duke of 22:52, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'd appreciate you notify me before converting one of my images over to another format. Your version has less quality than mine, why did you feel the need to convert it? I can re-save it as another format, all you need to do is ask.  :) I'd also kindly request that you remove the image from your User Page as I was the one who went to the trouble of hand-drawing it on my computer, and I feel as though you are taking credit for creating the image, when in fact all you did was change the format. NcSchu(Talk) 01:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, it has a good quality when large, I thought it was low quality because when it's small it doesn't look smooth. Also, I would find it difficult to differentiate between "contributions" and "creations", but so be it. NcSchu(Talk) 15:23, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Complutense.PNG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Complutense.PNG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

I've a doubt on this map: when did South Africa become "developed"? It isn't in the article by the way. Valentin Naboth edit

hi Javitomad:
I was wondering whether you can help me with the following: Valentin Naboth was a 16th century German mathematician/astronomer/astrologist. In 1560 he published a textbook on astrology Enarratio elementorvm astrologiae; it is posted in full on the website of the Universidad de Sevilla. The interesting thing about this book is that it was banned by the Roman Censur. I have not been able to find out why, but it is known that astrology was banned by the Catholic Church at that time.
Looking over the online version of that book I noticed that there is Spanish handwiting on page 4 of that copy; it seems to say something about "Señores Inquisidores". Also, see page 12. Can you make out what it says? Thanks for your help. JdH (talk) 13:44, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Article upgrade assistance request (Pre-translation stage) edit

Seasons Greetings,

This is in reference to a relatively new umbrella article on en-wikipedia named Ceremonial pole. Ceremonial pole is a human tradition since ancient times; either existed in past at some point of time, or still exists in some cultures across global continents from north to south & from east to west. Ceremonial poles are used to symbolize a variety of concepts in several different world cultures.

Through article Ceremonial pole we intend to take encyclopedic note of cultural aspects and festive celebrations around Ceremonial pole as an umbrella article and want to have historical, mythological, anthropological aspects, reverence or worships wherever concerned as a small part.

While Ceremonial poles have a long past and strong presence but usually less discussed subject. Even before we seek translation of this article in global languages, we need to have more encyclopedic information/input about Ceremonial poles from all global cultures and languages. And we seek your assistance in the same.

Since other contributors to the article are insisting for reliable sources and Standard native english; If your contributions get deleted (for some reason like linguistics or may be your information is reliable but unfortunately dosent match expectations of other editors) , please do list the same on Talk:Ceremonial pole page so that other wikipedians may help improve by interlanguage collaborations, and/or some other language wikipedias may be interested in giving more importance to reliablity of information over other factors on their respective wikipedia.

This particular request is being made to you since your user name is listed in Wikipedia:Translators available list.

Thanking you with warm regards Mahitgar (talk) 06:08, 24 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:10, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can you help verify translations of articles from Spanish edit

Hello Javitomad,

Would you be able to help evaluate the accuracy of translations of Wikipedia articles from Spanish to English Wikipedia?

File:Language icon.svg

This would involve evaluating a translated article on the English Wikipedia by comparing it to the original Spanish article, and marking it "Pass" or "Fail" based on whether the translation faithfully represents the original. Here's the reason for this request:

There are a number of articles on English Wikipedia that were created as machine translations from different languages including Spanish, using the Content Translation tool, sometimes by users with no knowledge of the source language. The config problem that allowed this to happen has since been fixed, but this has left us with a backlog of articles whose accuracy of translation is suspect or unknown, including some articles translated from Spanish. In many cases, other editors have come forward later to copyedit and fix any English grammar or style issues, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the translation is accurate, as factual errors from the original translation may remain. To put it another way: Good English is not the same as good translation.

If you can help out, that would be great. Here's a sample of the articles that need checking:

  1. Transcontinental_railway_Brasil-Peru
  2. Treaty_of_Geneva_(1966)
  3. Triángulo_de_Sabato
  4. Trichouropoda_bipilis
  5. TwinBee_Portable

All you have to do, is compare the English article to the Spanish article, and assess them "Pass" or "Fail" (the {{Pass}} and {{Fail}} templates may be useful here). (Naturally, if you feel like fixing an inaccurate translation and then assessing it, that's even better, but it isn't required.) Also please note that we are assessing accuracy not completeness, so if the English article is much shorter that is okay, as long as whatever has been translated so far is factually accurate.

If you can help, please {{ping}} me here to let me know. You can add your pass/fails above, right next to each link, or you may indicate your results below. Thanks! Elinruby (talk) 05:49, 6 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I made some changes to your userbox for users from Madrid. I increased the size of the flag, changed the background from red to crimson (for Castile) and changed the link to Community of Madrid from Madrid. Let me know what you think!
