Philip McHarris edit

Hello, Java! After your suggestions, I worked to improve the article about Draft:Philip McHarris and clarified his biography and got rid of the essay style and all the redundant information. If you have spare time, please let me know how I did this time.Wikiedits5891 (talk) 21:25, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikiedits5891, thanks! I'll go through. JavaHurricane 03:57, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Good question!
This is the only source I found but it doesn't look like reliable one, so I decided to remove it:
www.mylife.com/philip-mcharris/e80149938393210

Here are the other two sources that indicate his approximate age between 27-29: https://www.bc.edu/publications/chronicle/FeaturesNewsTopstories/2015/topstories/_world-of-difference.html https://www.bc.edu/publications/chronicle/FeaturesNewsTopstories/2013/features/mcharris021413.html Wikiedits5891 (talk) 06:55, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikiedits5891, is there anything on his website? JavaHurricane 07:16, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the suggestion, Java! In his "bio" on the website he lists the DOB. I've updated the Draft:Philip McHarris to reflect the updated date of birth. Wikiedits5891 (talk) 13:16, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cyclone Heidi edit

Hiya Java. I saw you're working on Heidi. Talk:2011–12_Australian_region_cyclone_season/January - I wanted to make sure you knew of this archive of sources. You should be able to write a good MH with that. Thanks for working on that article :) Lemme know if you need any help. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:56, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Tim Thomas (NBA) edit

The edits of mine you reverted for Tim Thomas I believe were constructive as they were correct and accurate.

"Thomas also seriously considered making the jump straight to the NBA from high school, waiting to declare his decision to attend college at Villanova until just days before the deadline to enter the NBA draft."

This was info was gained from a story in Sport Illustrated... https://vault.si.com/vault/1996/11/15/one-year-and-then-villanova-phenom-tim-thomas-gives-it-the-old-college-try-but-the-call-of-the-nba-is-never-out-of-earshot Pretty reliable source... so.. what's the problem?

Also the other edits were cosmetic.. I was taking the ALL CAPS off some of the words and correcting prepositions. Seems pretty constructive to me.

No?

Per BLP policy, all information on biographies of living persons MUST be reliably sourced without exception. Since you did not add the source while adding the information, I reverted the edit. Please feel free to add back the information, as long as you cite the source. JavaHurricane 07:31, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I literally linked most of what I wrote ... how do you add a source otherwise? Pleas explain. Because sadly you are now presenting incorrect info about Tim Thomas. Specifically the years he played in the NBA 1997-2007 is WRONG and you keep reverting to that. Look it up yourself if you want.. he played from 1998-2010. So.. You are making wiki incorrect every time you revert me.

Tell me step by step what you need. Thanks as I am new.

I'm sorry if you feel bad, but I must abide with Wikipedia policy. You must too. As I said, add a source. Are you using Virtual Editor or the source editor? I can help you if you tell me that. JavaHurricane 07:52, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Mamaharyaindia, ummmm... I won't be able to help as I am busy at the moment. You could, however, ask for help at the Teahouse, which is meant to serve this very purpose. JavaHurricane 12:04, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Mamaharyaindia, I agree with JH. This looks pretty notable, given the wiki links given, but more sources would be better. Cheers! Eumat114 formerly The Lord of Math (Message) 12:55, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

PSA Certified edit

Hello JavaHurricane, Thanks for reviewing the PSA Certified draft so quickly and the clear feedback you gave - I was expecting to be waiting a while for the page to be reviewed. I'm going to tweak the content and resubmit, but wanted your opinions on the planned edits prior to resubmitting.

- Remove Certification & Security section (as some of this is referenced from primary sources) - Remove mentions of external companies (e.g. STMicroelectronics) - Tweak Foundation language to make more encyclopedic.

If those steps are carried out, do you think the draft would be closer to acceptable? If you have any further advice, it would be appreciated.RichardDigital47 (talk) 13:44, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

RichardDigital47, that doesn't need to be removed. I think that the only issue I found was the language in the "Foundation" section. That you can go forward with. Rest of the things can stay. JavaHurricane 14:27, 28 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
JavaHurricane thanks for the clarification and responding quickly. I have now resubmitted the draft with the changes we have talked about. To make things easier, this is the link. If you have the chance to review, I would really appreciate it. Link - Draft:PSA Certified. RichardDigital47 (talk) 09:49, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

A message from Ed6767 about RedWarn edit

RedWarn - user feedback needed!

Hello RedWarn tester! I hate to reitterate, but thank you so much for being willing to test RedWarn, I really appreciate it.

In the past few updates, I have added AIV (admin) reporting, a preferences panel, themes, customisation options and made many, many bug fixes and added many features based on your suggestions and feedback.

Unfortunately, recently feedback has run dry.

Even if you do not use RedWarn at the moment, or you do (tysm), I would greatly appreciate feedback of any kind. While I go round Twinkle users, sounding like that broadband salesperson in the mall that nobody ever wants to speak to, I'd like some updated feedback from recent and current users.

Any sort of feedback below would be greately appreciated!

  • Your first impressions when you tried RedWarn?
  • How have you used RedWarn as time has gone on?
  • Would you value customisation features, such as macros or shortcuts, such as adding your own quick revert reasons so the tool can fit your exact editing practices?
  • Any suggestions for how I could promote the tool to a wider audience?
  • Would you appreciate a more developed and thorough user guide?
  • Any theme suggestions?
  • Anything you'd like changing?
  • Something you've always wanted to see in an anti-vandal tool? (I might add it!)
  • RedWarn app?
  • A way to introduce Recent Changes patrol to new users to make using RedWarn or other tools less daunting?
  • Any bugs, gripes, or things that just really annoy you about RedWarn?

Leave Feedback

My goal is to create the most user friendly moderation tool, and that's why I need your feedback to help make this truely the most favorable anti-vandal tool. While we will never elliminate vandalism on this site, we can get closer to fighting it quickly and easily.

Many thanks for your continued support. Ed6767 (talk) 00:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you do not wish to get these feedback reminders, let me know on my talk page.

Revert edit

Hi JavaHurricane, Thanks for letting me know about your revert, but sadly it's a waste of time. I did not edit Mittens the cats page on 7 March 2020 or any other date for that matter. (SM527RR (talk) 04:47, 8 May 2020 (UTC))Reply

SM527RR, I guess you're talking about this revert. The notification was directed towards the IP address (115.189.xxx.xxx), and you might have received this notification because you might've happened to be using this IP address when you received the notification. It might have been a dynamic IP address, and it got allocated to you at a certain point in time. Cheers, Eumat114 formerly TLOM (Message) 05:03, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Torbjorn Schauman edit

Hi, thanks for the help with the article. I wanted to ask, how can we improve it so that it gets accepted? Thank you. Aminoff1500 (talk) 14:31, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Aminoff1500, hello! Some suggestions would be adding information and sourcing it properly. See WP:RS for what reliable sources are. You can also see WP:NBIO for notability guidelines and WP:WBA for general help on writing better articles. JavaHurricane 14:51, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Is the source in this case the specific issue for notability? Or is being an introduced member of both the Finnish and Swedish house of Nobility not notable? Thanks! Aminoff1500 (talk) 15:03, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Aminoff1500, simply being a member of a house of nobility doesn't make a person notable. As WP:NBIO notes, a person is notable if they have significant coverage (not mere mentions) in multiple reliable sources independent of the subject. JavaHurricane 15:20, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks again for the help. I have the following question: according to WP:ANYBIO a person is notable if "The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for such an award several times" Being a member of the House of Lords in both Sweden and Finland is both a "well-known and significant honor" or not? Aminoff1500 (talk) 15:42, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Aminoff1500, I don't think so (many members of the British House of Lords, for example, have no articles). However, I think it best for you to go to the Teahouse as the people there are far more experienced. JavaHurricane 16:07, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks again for the help! I find the issue interesting. Take care. Aminoff1500 (talk) 16:08, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Aminoff1500, no worries. Have a good day! JavaHurricane 16:10, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dear JavaHurricane, sorry to be bothering again. I just noted that in several Noble Family Wikipedia pages in their native tongue (German, Swedish and Finnish) there are 'stubs' to family members. Should I convert my article into a stub? Sorry to be asking so many questions, I am a researcher but very new in Wikipedia... thanks! Aminoff1500 (talk) 17:12, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

For example https://fi.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Schauman has no significant references that make it notable; however it has not been deleted... if I make the same (classify it as a stub) will it work? Thanks Aminoff1500 (talk) 17:20, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Aminoff1500, unfortunately, the English Wikipedia's policies don't apply to the other Wikipedias. So, they have articles that wouldn't stand here JavaHurricane 17:28, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I would have believed that policies are universal. Thanks again for the help! Aminoff1500 (talk) 17:30, 8 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia's editors edit

Why is there so much confusion over Wikipedia choosing articles, news articles, and other related third or fourth party entries over the actual witnesses. Imagine a man was on the titanic and the news read that due course was plotted but not followed. And an assistant to the captain said he aided the captain and due course was taken. Wikipedia would take the news article as a,trusted source, rather than the actual witness. This have been happening over and again. If we can not get trusted witnesses other than third party or fourth party articles. Wikipedia would become non sensical. Please stop listing persons who are primary witnesses as soapboxing, if giving their own account. Customer/participator discretion should be advisable and due warnings, but please do not remove the truth to make articles public consumption. Keith St. Clair Nicholas (talk) 07:10, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Keith St. Clair Nicholas, please stop your rants and publishing hoaxes on Wikipedia. Please don't tell us that you have found a vaccine for COVID-19, we know it is a hoax. JavaHurricane 07:35, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Keith St. Clair Nicholas: I suggest you read Wikipedia's No original research policy and the guidelines on Reliable Sources. Glen 08:56, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

% Arabica edit

Hi JavaHurricane,

Thanks for the feedback on the article I created for % Arabica I wanted to clarify why it was flagged for speedy deletion? Please note : I am registered here as a paid contributor for the company, which I believe does warrant special status as one of the the best known and internationally represented coffee companies in the world. I used Blue Bottle coffee company as a rough guide, and can see that they have a similar number of references to their own company website as us - so I can only assume that the flag was regarding the reliability of sources?

Many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stwtc (talkcontribs) 19:17, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Stwtc, your draft article was obviously promotional. That is not allowed on Wikipedia - see this policy subsection. JavaHurricane 00:59, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nanaimo Daily Free Press edit

Hi JavaHurricane. Thanks for putting the draft page in the right place. What I was trying to do was not create a new page, but put the newspaper title in the Wikipedia system so that if someone searched for it the title would show up and redirect to the Nanaimo Daily News page. I don't know how to do that. Can you help? Davidforbes (talk) 05:02, 12 May 2020 (UTC)DavidforbesReply

Speedy deletion declined: Draft:Asia Anti Additive Association(A.A.) edit

Hello JavaHurricane. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Draft:Asia Anti Additive Association(A.A.), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. Thank you. GedUK  11:47, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Legal Threat edit

Main thing is you people dont go through the references properly and keep reverting changes. This becomes unbearable sometimes. Though I apologize for the threat. Why dont you ask the user who reverted the changes that did he really read those references? Why not warnings be given to those users who blindly revert the changes?
