Linking to the uninformative edit

Hi. In this edit you link from an utterly worthless "article" to an article on the same subject in French. But when, eager to read about the man in French, I click on the link, I arrive at a translation of the utterly worthless English article.

If somebody wants to French-language Wikipedia to imitate the most pointless articles within English-language Wikipedia, that's a matter for French-language Wikipedia. But why link to these articles from the English-language articles? -- Hoary (talk) 11:03, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

hello, I do not exactly understand your point, but if you wan to remove the interwiki link please do so. Jatayou (talk) 16:13, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Eiji Ubusawa is almost worthless. People who look at it and are capable of reading French may notice the link to fr:Eiji Ubusawa and click on it. They'll then read something that's just as worthless as the English version (or that was so when I looked at it last night): no worse, but no better.

I can't immediately come up with any French equivalent of the article Eiji Ubusawa, but compare Marcel Ichac. The article is pretty bad, but it links to fr:Marcel Ichac, which is better. This link is a real help to readers of the English article.

I didn't see who created fr:Eiji Ubusawa. However, if you would like to translate one or two English-language articles on Japanese photographers into French, then I recommend looking through this long list for people marked "OK". Thus for photographers whose names start with "U":

Among these articles in English, that on Ueno is particularly good, and Ueno certainly merits an article in French. -- Hoary (talk) 01:27, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well noted. If you need some hints to identify "important" French photographers who have "reasonable" article on fr WP, you can contact me. In general, any photographer who was awarded fr:Prix Niépce deserves an article. Example : fr:Jean-Louis Swiners. See also one of my last articles : fr:André Vigneau. Best regards, Jatayou (talk) 10:28, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, translating from the French would be an interesting change for me. So I looked at fr:André Vigneau -- but it seems completely unsourced. -- Hoary (talk) 11:12, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hum... You are picky and challenging ! In fact, when I write an article, I put a section "bibliographie" which means that I used the mentioned documents to build the article. For sake of clarity, I added a note. Best regards, Jatayou (talk) 16:26, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
