Welcome!

Hello, Jason (HPR), and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!--Mishae (talk) 22:37, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi Mishae, thanks for your warm welcome. I hope our interactions with Wikipedia turn out as well as they have the potential to. With so many PR firms trying to approach Wikipedia in a non-transparent (and in my opinion unethical way,) I'm really hoping that our attempt at above-the-board engagement will be accepted. • Just to let you know, Wikipedia is no place for PR or advertising. But, if you want to improve an article on a specific firm, provide references, and I guess you will be fine. From as far as I know your user name doesn't breach our username policy guidelines.--Mishae (talk) 23:02, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Our goal here is, fundamentally, the same goal as most other Wikipedians. To contribute neutral, encyclopedic information (and articles) to the greatest collaborative project mankind has ever seen. Our team will have potential conflicts of interest with some of the material we'll be adding, but we will note these prominently wherever they occur. We understand and agree with Wikipedia's concept of a neutral point of view, and have no desire to undermine it. Some of our COI changes will be minor factual corrections (for instance, correcting a company's yearly revenue from $60mm to $120mm with a more up to date reliable source,) while some of them may be bigger - but in each instance, we will adhere to Wikipedia's content policies to the best of our ability, and if we slip up, we certainly hope we will be corrected :) Best, Jason (HPR) (talk) 23:08, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your goals

edit

I just finished reading your main page, and I am in general agreement with the problem statement. That leads me to initial concurrence with your general plan. I am still mulling over whether the use of the initials in your user names is a great idea or a bad one. I understand, and support the motivation, still mulling over whether it is the best way to accomplish the goal. --SPhilbrick(Talk) 02:09, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

While I like the idea that they are transparent paid editors, I am concerned about this statement: "Towards that end, we pledge that we will at least one neutral, encyclopedic article that we do not have a conflict of interest for in an area of Wikipedia that is currently under-served for every four clients we take on." The potential problem, as I see it, that they are simultaneously promoting their business by saying "if you do business with us, look what good things we are doing." I would prefer that they say nothing about taking on clients and merely say that they are paid editors who will abide by Wikipedia policy.--I am One of Many (talk) 03:52, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the feedback all. We'll be making some changes to our user page to address the concerns that have been brought up here and on the talk page of user:28bytes. We intended the statement to just reassure people that we meant it in seriousness and were not going to write one article and then go 'hey, we totally do pro-bono work,' but we definitely understand how it could be misconstrued, and we will adjust it. I went ahead and made some adjustments to the language we use in that portion of our userpages. I think it should address your concerns, but please let me know if there are any parts that you think could still be subject to misinterpretation and we will rework those as well.
