User:JaseKent/sandboxMayor of London's Skyride — Annual cycling event (London Freewheel) has had a name change for 2009, and therefore searches for this event need to reflect the new event name. Old page remains in situ to provide historical background and infromation for events that have already taken place. Links to/from both included on both pages. It looks like a part of the article has been directly copied from London Freewheel. In my understanding, this is prohibited by Wikipedia's license, because the original authors are no longer credited for their work. In general, I think the information belongs in the London Freewheel article, but even if kept separate, the copied text must be removed. Jafeluv (talk) 00:35, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose un-necessary content-fork. If entity has changed name, rename the article about it, have a redirect old-name→new-name. If new information is available (because the next year's event has occured, or for any other reason), add info to the article about the topic. There's not so much info for this topic and the renaming does not provide a logical break in its encyclopediac information. DMacks (talk) 03:12, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
