Speedy deletion nomination of Jaromy Henry edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jaromy Henry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.fantasyworkspublishing.com/authors.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 2601:188:0:ABE6:3CF7:E4A2:6CC5:354F (talk) 01:57, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not write or add to an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. 2601:188:0:ABE6:3CF7:E4A2:6CC5:354F (talk) 01:57, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

July 2015 edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. 2601:188:0:ABE6:3CF7:E4A2:6CC5:354F (talk) 02:01, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Please understand, the article in its current form will not stay. Nor will your account, if its only intent is promotional, and persists in copyright violations. Thank you, 2601:188:0:ABE6:3CF7:E4A2:6CC5:354F (talk) 02:01, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Beat the Deal edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Beat the Deal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. December 2017 edit

  Hello, I'm KNHaw. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Category:Fictional vampires have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. KNHaw (talk) 22:40, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Jaromyh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ReaderofthePack (。◕‿◕。) 18:05, 17 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • I wanted to explain why your content keeps getting removed. It's ultimately because of two things: notability and because it's seen as promotional. Wikipedia requires that any topic (books, people, etc) have received coverage in independent, reliable sources to establish how they're notable per the site's rules. For books and authors, this can be fairly difficult, especially for indie and self-publishing authors, as it's rare that they get the coverage that they need. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you or your books have received this type of coverage, so any article you add to Wikipedia on yourself or your books will be deleted for notability reasons. Now aside from notability, writing about yourself on Wikipedia is seen as a conflict of interest as it's easy for the work to be seen as promotional - after all, more visibility will greatly benefit you.
Wikipedia really isn't the right place for this. My recommendation for getting readers and attention would be to go the book blogger and Goodreads route - ie, request reviews and do giveaways on Goodreads (or equivalent sites). While those sites aren't seen as notability giving sources on Wikipedia, drumming up reader interest can lead to gaining the needed coverage in these sources. I also recommend joining in with a few author writing groups, especially if there are authors there that have been able to successfully play the book blogger and Goodreads circuits, since they can help with tips on exposure as well. Proposed deletion of The Blood Maker and the Witch's Curse edit

The article The Blood Maker and the Witch's Curse has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Book has no coverage in independent, reliable sources to show where it would pass WP:NBOOK

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of The Blood Maker and the Witch's Curse edit

Hello Jaromyh,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Blood Maker and the Witch's Curse for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

July 2018 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 23:09, 17 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I know this looks bad, like I deliberately ignored information about my deleted pages, but I honestly just found these notes. I see that my stuff was considered self promoting and I apologize. It was not my intentions to disrupt Wikipedia. Please consider unbanning my profile. Thanks. Jaromy Jaromyh (talk) 02:17, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

As explained in the guide to appealing blocks, you have to convince administrators that you intend to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia that are unrelated to the subject of your promotion if unblocked. To do so, your unblock request should include specific examples of productive edits that you would like to make. Also, you have to show us that you understand what was wrong in your editing. Without that, I can't consider this request for unblocking. Vanjagenije (talk) 16:50, 22 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I know how this looks, but I honestly never came back in here until today to see why my pages were deleted. I just thought, I’m an author, I have books, I’ll add my information like every other author. I see now that this was considered self promoting. I did not mean to disrupt Wikipedia. I apologize and I ask to please be unbanned. Sincerely,

Jaromy Jaromyh (talk) 01:58, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've cleaned up your request. The {{unblock}} template does not work in section headers - and in any case, only one is needed. It seemed like you were trying to ping Ritchie333, so I have done that on your behalf as well. SQLQuery me! 03:45, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I think ReaderofthePack gave the best advice above. For an unblock, I would want to see evidence of you wanting to work on articles where you have no conflict of interest whatsoever. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:35, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I agree with everything Reader of the Pack posted. Now that I'm thinking about it, after Reader of the Pack deleted my content, why did I get banned? It seems like someone else was making a decision to punish me after Reader of the Pack already had made a decision. {{unblock|Can someone tell me what my next step is? I don't feel like an indefinite ban was necessary simply from me creating an author page. ReaderofthePack gave me actual advice on how to handle it and [[User talk:Ritchie333| banned me immediately afterward. I did not do anything after the message from ReaderofthePack, though. I think there is a misunderstanding.}}

You're not banned, you're blocked - the block was issued because every page you have created has ended up being deleted, so we need to stop editing temporarily while we check you understand the issue. Otherwise more of your work would end up getting deleted, which is a waste. "Indefinite" doesn't mean the block is forever, just that the block will be lifted when we are satisfied you understand the issues, without an automatic time-out.
Another administrator should be reviewing this unblock request in due course, which will hopefully happen soon. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:52, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, [[User:Ritchie333|<b I just never noticed the messages before. I wish that these would have been forwarded to my email. I honestly never got any of them until I got frustrated wondering why my stuff keeps getting deleted. lol.
