Sharon Carpenter image removal

edit

Hi Jane. In this edit you removed the only free image we have of her; could you explain why? Thanks! --GRuban (talk) 01:41, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Aha. You didn't respond directly, but in your edit comment wrote "This is a highly unflattering photo of Sharon so please remove it. There are a billion other images of her out there." Unfortunately there aren't a billion other free images of her out there. We can only use images that can be freely reused and edited, like the rest of Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Image use policy. If you know of such an image or can make one (usually the photographer owns these rights, so usually only the photographer can release an image under an acceptable license) we'd love to have it. Until then this is what we have. --GRuban (talk) 20:38, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Sharon Carpenter. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 00:09, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Since you have reverted four times, you are already in breach of the three-revert rule. Please click 'Talk' at the top of the article, then edit normally to explain your concerns. Please stop reverting. 331dot (talk) 00:14, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

One of your editors insists on posting the most unflattering image of Sharon Carpenter on this page. It is a negative portrayal of her and could adversely effect her image and career. I have posted photos that Sharon has given me permission to use and those have been taken down and once again replaced with this terrible photo. Sharon has even emailed your permissions dept. (from sharonlcarpenter.com) to confirm that she granted permission to use the replacement image. No photo is better than this photo in the meantime. It really feels like harassment to see this photo uploaded again and again. I'm doing my part to protect her and your site is not allowing that.

And there it is up again. Seems like a personal attack to me. It's obviously a horrible photograph and there's no reason your editor should insist on using it - in this peeing contest or whatever it is.

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.  -- GB fan 00:29, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Just to be clear, your comment above "Our lawyers will be in touch." is why you are now blocked. You can get layers involved, but as long as that threat is there you can not edit Wikipedia. -- GB fan 00:33, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm trying to look out for a client I work with, that's all. And there has been a ton of going back and forth on this for no reason. What can I do to get the former and much more professional photo used in place of this current one. Sharon herself has sent an email granting her permission - what next?

Before anything else. I see you have removed the statements about lawyers. What we need is a statement that you are willing to work with the other editors and that lawyers are not involved in this. Then I will unblock you and you can go to the article's talk page and discuss this with no more edit warring. -- GB fan 00:45, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

OK, there will be no lawyers involved in this. Please can we resolve the matter. Where do I go to the Talk Page?

the talk page where you need to discuss this at Talk:Sharon Carpenter. You edit that the same way you edit any other page. Also please sign your edits. You do that by adding four tildes ~~~~ after your post before you save the edit. I will now unblock you. -- GB fan 01:06, 23 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
