Long Island, Maine edit

I would like your opinion on how we can better the Long Island, Maine page, as this is my hometown--I would like to develop it into a feature article. Almost Famous 07:30, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

As it stands, it's not too bad, as a typical small-town article. It's better than a stub, anyway. Some of the history stuff is borderline POV, but not too bad. It's written in a way that tries to sound 3rd party objective. From my personal knowledge, the article is generally accurate, but definitely needs sourcing/citation. That's the only major deficiency. Sourcing any information on Long Island could be difficult, as the internet doesn't have a lot--most of what's known is known through the local libraries and historical society archives, town hall records-- and so on. All of these institutions are far from being up to par with the internet age. If I get together some public domain images and some historical information--could I run it by you before I post it? Well, I suppose my changes can be reverted if they are too much so I started by adding some Public Domain imagery to the LI article--as well as explaining the situation in regards to the lifestyle (how there's only two general stores, one restaurant, so on and so on.) But I'm collecting a lot of data from the historical society as well, which I hope to have by the end of the week. Almost Famous 05:24, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
