User:James000 edit

Hey James, I was just wondering if you are still planning on using User:James000 or whether you would like that account to be blocked and redirected here? If you wish to maintain two accounts, you can, but you should consider putting a tag one as an altenate account, so that it is clear that you are using multiple accounts in accord with policy. I hope you had a happy Easter. :) Cheers, Sarah 12:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

No worries about that. I can delete the pages but we can't delete the actual accounts because of the GFDL licence, so the edits you made under the James account will still show up in histories of articles that you edited. I understand not wanting your full name on the site (I also recently changed my username to drop my last name) but your Chicken userpage mentions your full name as well. If you want to get rid of that, I can also delete your last name from the page history so it just says your name is James but won't show your last name.
I realised it was you because I noticed you rewrote the school article and when I looked at the userpages, they both had the same name and some of the same infoboxes. Sarah 12:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I deleted the other account's pages and I deleted the history of your new userpage so no one can look at the history and see that info. Hope that's okay. Sarah 12:44, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problems about the accounts, I'm glad you are happy with what I did. About the Melbourne project, you don't need to be an admin to update that progress thing. I would do it myself but I actually have no idea what it should be changed to, so I've asked someone else from the project about it. Cheers, Sarah 06:16, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
P.S. By the way, you have shocking taste in football teams! :) Sarah 06:19, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! edit

Thank you kind sir. :) I appreciate the wiki-smile and message. By the way, just so you know, anyone can give out barnstars. Really, the only special things that admins can do which regular editors can't do is block people from editing, protect pages so they can't be edited or can only be edited by registered editors and delete pages. You can read more about admins and the admin tools here: WP:Admin. I'm glad to see that your taste in TV shows (Desperate Housewives and The Simpsons) is far, far better than your taste in footy teams! Sarah 12:49, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh good. Don't worry, I trust you. I'm sure your maths is better than mine anyway! You should have a go at working out the other ones, if you want to. Sarah 13:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well done James, it looks like you're doing a good job. I just noticed that someone has updated the main project progress bar so that's good. There's always lots of work to be done on Wikipedia! I hope you have a good time at Phillip Island. I am down on the Mornington Peninsula and the weather here has been beautiful. This morning I snuck my dog down onto the beach for a quick swim. :) Sarah 04:30, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're doing well I think. :) If you ever need to know anything about infoboxes and templates feel free to drop me a line, they're always useful to know about. Wholeheartedly agree with Sarah - originally everyone was administrators but as the project grew that became impractical. The main thing is just developing the technical skills, and being able to stand back from a situation and take considered actions - you really can't do anything wrong if you're both informed and emotionally uninvolved, and follow policy and appropriate guidelines at all times - i.e. never speedy anything without a good reason, assume good faith, try to assist development of consensus and if in doubt, consult with peers or other admins and see what they'd do. "E-mail this user" is an excellent tool in the armoury on such occasions, as long as it's not overused. Orderinchaos 08:00, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

By the way Mr Chicken, I saw Collingwood training this morning at the footy oval on Punt Road, near the MCG and there were heaps of media there. Sarah 08:10, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Templates edit

Hey Chicken, thanks for the barnstar! :) That was very thoughtful of you and I shall add it to my barnstar page. Regarding templates, I'm not sure exactly what help you're looking for, but the basics are on these pages: Help:A quick guide to templates and Help:Template. If those pages don't answer your questions, just let me know. Have a nice weekend and thanks again for the barnstar, Sarah 13:58, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nice work on the Bass Coast Shire template. It looks like there's still a few towns in that Shire which need articles. Keep up the good work! :) Cheers, Sarah 08:10, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re:ANZAC Day edit

Hey Chicken, thanks for your message. I hope have also had a good day. That was kinda psychic as I was just thinking of you earlier and then came on and got your message. I've been watching some of the footy and it's been very exciting (though I guess for fans it's a nail biter!). I watced until half time when the scores were a draw. I think I might go and watch the rest of the game as it's the most exciting game I've seen for ages. Oh by the way, your userpage is looking really good and I love the picture of Pugsley. AND, I'm a cancer as well (my birthday is june 23)! Take care Mr Chicken and thanks for your message and kind wishes for ANZAC day. Cheers, Sarah 06:37, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, congratulations, I just heard that the pies won by 16 points. That's a pretty good win considering how close it was at half time and in the third quarter. Have a good time at Sovereign Hill. I haven't been there for many years and shall look forward to seeing your pictures. Take care, Sarah 07:47, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
See, psychic, I tell you! What sort of infobox were you wanting to create? There's a template for basic infoboxes here: Template:Infobox. And there's a infobox help page here, but unfortunately it doesn't look all that helpful. :/ Sarah 08:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I just noticed that there are other examples on the talk page for infobox link I just gave you that might be worth looking at: Template talk:Infobox. Sarah 08:06, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chicken7 edit

A tag has been placed on Chicken7, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an user page from the main/article space. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Sovereign Hill edit

Hey Chicken, I'm glad you had a good day at Sovereign Hill. I loved your pictures, especially the one of the horses. Congratulations on finding gold! I never could find gold in that panning river but my mum did once.

About the infoboxes, no, you don't need to put it on separate page, just on the page that you're going to use it on. Is there an infobox in another article that is similar to the one that you want to create? If so, just go to that article, click on edit, then find the code for the infobox, highlight it, copy it and then paste it into your article, changing the text, headings, captions etc and tweaking it as necessary. That is probably the easiest way to start with infoboxes. Take care Chicken and have a good weekend. :) Sarah 12:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

Hello. I am HB4026, and I stumbled upon you while browsing. I noticed that you know User: VirtualSteve and User: Sarah, which got me intrigued. Need any help? Thanks Harrison-HB4026 09:05, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi. It seems though I am outnumbered with opinion on football - Im an NRL boy because I am from NSW. Whenever you need a hand (even with AFL articles) just give me a call. Harrison-HB4026 11:32, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
