John A Notte, III

John A Notte, III, was an attorney who spent most of his life in Rhode Island. Son of the former Governor John A. Notte, Jr. , John's passions ran in 3 directions; his family, auto racing and cable television regulation. Auto racing consumed most of Notte's life, starting as a driver as a young man and culminating in the title of "Track Stewart" at the Indianapolis 500 he became an expert in the history of the sport as well as an avid collector. Employed by the United States Auto Club for over 40 years, Notte was considered an local and national race history expert and amassed one of the country's largest collections of racing memorabilia. Responsible for the centennial celebration of "100 Years of Oval Track Racing" Notte was a presence at the Seekonk Speedway and all national Indy tracks including the Brickyard 400 and the birth of Nascar racing.
