Proposed deletion of Star Wars: Embedded Political Meaning

edit

The article Star Wars: Embedded Political Meaning has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is a personal essay, not an encyclopedia article. Wikipedia is not a place for essays or original compositions.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Animalparty! • Hi Jake, I received a notification about this. Offhand I agree with Animalparty, as this is definitely an essay. It is largely unsourced and relies heavily on your own interpretation of the films. On Wikipedia we can only summarize what others have written in reliable sources. I see where you have some URLs, but it looks like only one has been definitively used as a source.
With a topic like this you also have to be very careful about the sourcing. For example, I'm not entirely sure that EthicsDaily.com would be seen as a reliable source on Wikipedia, which tends to be fairly exclusive with what is considered a reliable source. The site has to undergo editorial oversight and also be routinely seen as a reliable source by other reliable sources. With the HuffPo, always make sure that it isn't written by one of their blog contributors - it should ideally be written by a staff member. Scholarly sources such as this would be the best, however news sources from outlets like the Sydney Morning Herald are usually OK. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:17, 26 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
