Hello Jahmal, I am an online ambassador who you can ask about anything by using my talk page, or email if you do not want others to see what you want to say. I will also be keeping an eye on what what editing you do on Wikipedia in this course, and will lend a hand or have a chat. I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia and can make a difference to our content! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 19:46, 27 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Use of headings on talk pages edit

Hi Jahmal, you are the first student of all the ones I have welcomed to talk back to me this semester. So that does sound promising. And I note that you are already using the ~~~~ signature markup. If you are ready for some new Wikimarkup: You can add a heading using double equals signs: ==Heading== The heading should go on a line all by itself. Major sections in articles will have headings, and so should new topics on a talk page, for example this one! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:02, 30 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey Jahmal! I am one of your classmates in Interdisciplinary. I will introduce myself to you in class. Have a good day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by I41hope (talkcontribs) 13:58, 30 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Genetically modified food edit

Hello, for the text you added to Genetically modified food#History, we need you to tell us where the information came from so that it can be verified, or people can get into further reading. So where did you get that history summary from? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:20, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

GMO article edit

Hi there Jahmal Council, you can get your text back by using this link and doing save: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Genetically_modified_food&action=edit&undoafter=484587273&undo=484592221 However please be ready to improve the paragraph with references. Because this is a controversial topic other editors are very fussy about what goes in. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:28, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jahmal, Aircorn made some excellent suggestions on the talk page of the GMO crops article. I think you could get plenty of ideas to complete your project by carefully following those suggestions. Also, please heed the warning from Graeme above about referencing as you go! Waterbug42 (talk) 15:39, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sourcing edit

Replaceable fair use File:Genetically modified corn in Hawaii.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Genetically modified corn in Hawaii.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 14:11, 27 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Genetically modified soybean.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Genetically modified soybean.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
