Your recent edits edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:53, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Process edit

in response to your question at Police State

Wikipedia is big place, and done by volunteers; without a centralized oversight and people responsible only for what they wish to contribute when they can contribute, things sometimes sit without notice or action or otherwise do not move on with a tight identifiable schedule.

When there is a discussion by a limited number of people that does not seem to be heading for a WP:Consensus, one of the options is for a "formal" Request for Comment WP:RFC. This places the question in a more public space than the individual talk page (it is on a general RfC notice board and the various "Wikipedia Projects" that have identified the article topic) to bring the opinions of other editors who have not been involved in the discussion so that a wider community consensus about policy/application thereof/appropriate content/presentation thereof can be determined. They generally remain open for 2-4 weeks. -- The Red Pen of Doom 18:49, 17 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ok thank you for the explanation. If you would like you can remove the question from the Police State talk page. So what happens if nobody responds? Would you be willing to compromise and allow 16 sentences to adequately get the position described? If not in your opinion what would be an appropriate amount of material devoted to the minority claim that the US is headed for and exhibiting signs of becoming a police state? Jack T.
