A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Jack Picone (Photographer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy deletion candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would help make it encyclopedic. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Theroadislong (talk) 15:35, 21 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I think deleting this page so abruptly in a knee jerk way is a little unnecessary.

In the note to 'Teahouse' the writer stated this was a draft and that she was looking for advice on adjustments.

I also disagree that the page is an unambigious advertisement and is not dissimilar in tone and approach to hundreds of other pages I have read on Wikipedia. Again, it was a 1st draft and the author was open to being corrected and producing a page that fitted Wikipedia standards but this opportunity was withdrawn before it could be executed.

All bit of a contradiction and counterproductive really.

Thanks

I'm not sure why you are writing in the third person here? The page was deleted because it was created on your user page rather than in mainspace.Theroadislong (talk) 08:23, 22 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I am writing in the 3rd person because I didn't create the page originally. It was created by a colleague using my account and computer. Thank you for the clarification as to why the page was deleted. That is useful.

The original reason given was that the content read as an 'unambiguous advertisement'. If this was not the reason and it had been created in the mainspace with a similar structure and tone would it not have been deleted?

Does this mean that it is possible to attempt making a new page in the mainspace? Or are we effectively locked out after a woeful attempt at a first draft?

Also, would you mind answering the unanswered questions in my previous correspondence to you?

Hopefully, I can learn something from you and this exchange instead of it simply being a unconstructive, negative and wasteful experience similar to the first time.

Thankyou.

Please do not write or add to an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Hello, Jack! Read the above article, and also take a look at other editors' user pages for some help in re-creating your own, which you can certainly do. Sincerely, BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 04:36, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
