Tillamook Cheddar edit
You asked Katr67 (talk · contribs) why some of your edits were undone on Tillamook Cheddar. It was explained in the edit summary as rv unhelpful linking of common English words and unsourced/POV. You can see the edit summary in the article's edit history. Just click on the "history" tab at the top of the page. Katr67's change was this. Somewhere, there is a list of acronyms and abbreviations used on Wikipedia, but these are the most common:
We don't link words in articles, especially well-known words, unless doing so somehow adds to the article. We assume an educated reader, but one ignorant of the article's topic.
Also, you added two controversial items to the article:
- It is the most popular brand of cheese in Oregon
- ... having a slightly fishy taste sometimes

I know about POV and NPOV and I think I understanded why she changed that part. But I was thinking the links were helpful to find the other artciles.

- Hi, looks like EncMstr answered your question, but allow me to elaborate. This is the guideline I use regarding internal links (Wikilinks): Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context#What generally should not be linked. For the sentence in question, we can assume the reader wants to know more about Tillamook Cheddar and also already knows what "butter", "milk", "factory" and "county" mean and needn't be distracted by links to those articles. On the other hand, in an article like Tillamook County Creamery Association, you will see links to the individual products, which makes sense because the reader might want to know more about the types of products a creamery makes. The rule isn't set in stone, but I stand by my reversion in this case. Also, despite our policy about assuming good faith on the part of other editors, note that introducing POV along with what otherwise might be legitimate changes tends to get all the changes reverted.
