Welcome to Wikipedia. You are very welcome to begin a discussion on the Bill Evans talk page, if you have issues with copyright status of any of the material given. Editors are perfectly willing and open to discuss sourcing and it's easier for all. Any material that is under copyright or does not have the appropriate license will be removed. Wikipedia attempts to be very careful about such things. As editors we always try to assume good faith of other editors and proceed accordingly. Several editors are currently interested in turning the Evans page in to a GA (Good Article), which will need to meet stringent criteria in its review. Any help you can give will be appreciated. You may find these pages useful as a new editor.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on this page. Again, welcome! Span (talk) 18:27, 10 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dear Jaap (or Rob), welcome to Wikipedia.

Wikipedia allows Fair use of scanned media. Your site is infringing copyright by posting whole scores. This file, on the other hand, only shows a small portion of the work. Also, scanning 2-D works does not grant rights to the scanner. Finally, this picture is not taken from your website, it's taken from this site [1].

The fact that the version you have has been trimmed and photoshopped proves you do not own the original scan, you took it from the internet like me. I hope this changes your mind, because the captions you are adding on the Bill Evans article are in any case not allowed.

Since you are really very knowledgeable about Bill Evans, I'm looking forward to see your contributions on his article. We need more sourced information from the 1970s! Regards from Barcelona.--Fauban 16:02, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

I do not think you know the background of my website "Time Remembered". I have an intense relationship with the Evans family and the Bill Evans Estate in the form of his partners Nenette Zazzara and Laurie Verchomin. They gave me a lot of copyrighted material provided that this is not further distributed. In addition, I represent The Legacy of Bill Evans on FB and have close contacts with Bill's former friends Win Hinkle (Letter From Evans), Jack Reilly (The Harmony of Bill Evans), Brian Hennesey (Bill Evans Memorial Library) , Ron Nethercutt (Southeastern Louisiana University), Marc Myers (JazzWax), Mike Harris (The Secret Sessions) and Jan Stevens (The Bill Evans Webpages). Recently I released a Bill Evans double CD "Momentum" in consultation with the Evans family and distributed worldwide. Advertising for my website, as you propose, I really do not need. If you feel there is an infringement then it is worth taking up on the Bill Evans talk page. Thanks Span (talk) 19:13, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
