Obliquely or not, telling someone to STFU in the middle of a conversation about enforcing civility norms is unhelpful, and I wonder if you'd consider striking it? Thanks, Mackensen (talk) 15:59, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Another comment

WP:LLM was supposed to be a one-paragraph policy proposal and it was slowly turned into one of those $2 million San Francisco municipal toilet projects with a 0% chance of passing by the time someone finally slapped a RfC on it. I sure as heck learned my lesson from that!

I swear you have a way with words that is vastly underappreciated around here. That comment alone got me interested in reading about the history of WP:LLM. Your userpage says that you're a writer; what sort of writing do you do? Blogging, journalism, technical writing, fiction, etc.? Duly signed, WaltClipper -(talk) 14:14, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

User:JPxG/sandbox99

Hello,

As you didn't respond to the last few request in regards to User:JPxG/sandbox99, I went ahead and commented out a call to the {{PAGESIZE}} template as it adds the page to Category:Pages which use a template in place of a magic word. Hope you don't mind! :) ~ Eejit43 (talk) 23:34, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

@Eejit43: That section of the sandbox is specifically made to demonstrate what happens with different invocations of the magic word versus the template -- it just plain does not work if you comment it. That's why I haven't substed it or anything; it wouldn't serve its purpose. I will see if I can do something else in its stead. jp×g🗯️ 23:41, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for responding, I appreciate it. If you want an exact reproduction of what the template does, {{PAGESIZE:{{{1}}}}} would serve that purpose. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 23:45, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
{{Suppress categories}} might be helpful here. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:05, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

2024 Jerusalem municipal election

Hi there JPxG, I figured that the talk page where the requested move took place is not moved to the new destination, and the destination's talk page is redirecting to the talk page of the title it's supposed to be moved from. Did you intentionally leave it that way or it was something you missed? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 22:31, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Oh, what a mess. My pagemove was a mistake (I didn't read the RM closure hard enough -- it was a WP:BADNAC). I tried to revert myself but apparently failed -- I have attempted to fix it now. jp×g🗯️ 22:36, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Spotted while perusing some recent Signpost stuff

It's a little late to be adding comments now, but regarding your second comment on the special report covering some of BMN123's off-wiki stuff, I saw some uncertainty over the current page creator's relation to the sock farm. The basic conclusion at the time was that Tester beta 1298, was likely cheap low-quality UPE, see for example this bit of spam, still live as a write this actually; as shown by diffs on the LTA report, The sockmaster had bragged about paying people to edit. With the sockmaster subsequently taking over for future edits and RFPI. Among others in the history for example, 137.74.150.79 is still a long-term proxy, and of course some P2P and short term residential stuff proxies with past blocks in the logs were used to.

Fun fact, their off-wiki defamation campaign was a key factor in starting a deeper investigation since it indicated someone with a grudge against Wikipedia that uncovered much of the sockmaster's editing. Starting with this discussion and and continuing with AN after multiple proxies began spamming people's talk pages with stuff like this. Where their use of WP:RFPI, which is so obscure that even you didn't know what it was, ended being the key piece of evidence that tied everything together since abusing that process lead to the global lock on the master account (see block followed lock) there was plenty of other evidence too, but that removed any and all doubt.

If some of their off-wiki antics ever become Signpost material again, you may wish to contact Drmies or some of the others involved in thos discussions who almost certainly remember things better than I. Anyway, well-written report. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 23:34, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

About my future Signpost contributions

Hello!

Although I already left a short message on the Newsroom's talk page, I just wanted to let you know that I might not be able to contribute to the next few issues as much as I did recently, due to real-life priorities. Sorry for it... Oltrepier (talk) 08:30, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
