Speedy deletion nomination of Continental Flight 2816 edit

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Help edit

{{helpme}}

Hi I would like to create a article Continental Flight 2816 but I don't have refrences or stuff like that and i don't know where to report it. Unfortunly I don't know exactly where to report it and I have no clue how to make headers and side stuff like other flight articles have I know that this article has not been created but I think it should because this issue I heard is an issue n washington. I would appreciate the help.

Thanks JJ1664 (talk) 02:37, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I would suggest googling Continental Flight 2816 and you will find many references. (Like this) That answers part of your question. BrianY (talk) 03:05, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks I still need other answers until it has been answered JJ1664 (talk) 03:13, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you do not have references, then you're not going to be able to make that article; we only have articles on things that are notable, and that requires references in reliable sources - like newspapers or something.
I suggest that, first off, you create a page your user area. For example, create User:JJ1664/test. Click on that red link and make the page; try things out there.
Those box things at the top are called 'infoboxes'. If you edit one of those articles, such as Singapore Airlines Flight 006, you'll see at the top, it has code like this;
{{Infobox Airliner accident
|name=Chzz Airlines Flight 101
|Date= 1 April 2009
|Type=[[Pilot error]]
|occurrence_type=Accident
|Site=Footown
|Fatalities=0
|Injuries=42
|Aircraft Type=[[Boeing 747-400]]
|Passengers=9000
|Crew=2
}}
Chzz Airlines Flight 101
Accident
Date1 April 2009
SummaryPilot error
SiteFootown
Aircraft typeBoeing 747-400
Passengers9000
Crew2
Fatalities0
Injuries42
That will produce the box shown here. You could copy that to your user test page, and try things out. See template:Infobox Airliner accident for all the parameters of that template, and also see WP:INFOBOX for more help on the subject.
I also recommend you edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
When you are ready to write, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.
For more help, you can either;
  • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
  • Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
  • Talk to us live, with this or this.
Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  03:16, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
