Cut and paste copyvio edit

I have removed the blatant cut and paste paragraph you added to Mary Ellis with this edit. You really need to read and understand Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources. Moriori (talk) 22:39, 27 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Cut and paste : response edit

Thanks for the feedback Moriori. It seems you have identified an error I made and removed it. I often find ideas outside Wikipedia that seem good editions and they sometimes start with cut and paste. A bad habit perhaps. Thank you for removing it.

You also have made an error, the cut and paste was not in a blatant, an open and unashamed manner. May I respectfully suggest that the language you choose was bad mannered and presumptuous? I understand 'the fighty tone' is an on-going Criticism_of_Wikipedia, part of the reasons not to edit wikipedia. You sure took the wind out of my sails. --JEM1406a (talk) 10:23, 2 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I did not make an error. How do you think I detected your copyvio? To me it was flagrant or obvious, undisguised, unconcealed, overt, glaring, etc, all synonyms for blatant. I don't run bots but over the years have developed a pretty keen recognition of information that I think the contributor may not have actually written, so I check it out. Yours was 100 percent cut and paste copyvio, and I told you so. How you can describe my message as bad mannered is a mystery. How you can infer it somehow fits in reasons not to edit wikipedia, is also a mystery. I never mentioned gender. Moriori (talk) 22:13, 2 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your response. Allow me to try again: Thank you for removing the cut and paste. I do not, in any way, dispute your cut and paste correction.
Your error is -> you concluded my actions were blatant, unashamed. You went beyond what you knew and made a judgement that I blatantly, deliberately, knowingly, plagiarized in unashamed manner.
What difference is the difference between making a mistake and blatant plagiarism User:Moriori?

The article refers to "fighty responses". I find both of your responses fighty. We are communicating. But courtesy and consideration is sorely lacking.
I appreciate you pursuing this exchange of ideas. Coincidentally this article on the rationality of apologizing came across my path today. Yours --JEM1406a (talk) 14:27, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
My message to you was clear and unambiguous, that "I have removed the blatant cut and paste paragraph you added to Mary Ellis with this edit". Please, let's have less of "concluded my actions were blatant, unashamed. You went beyond what you knew and made a judgement that I blatantly, deliberately, knowingly, plagiarized in unashamed manner.". I never mentioned your motivation. Anywhere. Also, you haven't explained how my message to you relates to the nine reasons why women don't edit Wiki. Why introduce gender? Moriori (talk) 22:16, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Your message was, I agree, clear: you concluded the cut and paste was blatant. I am attempting to communicate 2 additional ideas. 1). The cut and paste was a mistake. 2). Your use of the word 'blatant' precludes that it was a mistake, and I found the tone fighty.
The reference above on 'why not to edit Wikipedia' was intended to focus on the 'fighty' environment, not gender. I have edited my initial feedback above to make that clearer.
A friendly environment/tone leaves room for mistakes. A fighty ones assumes blatant plagiarism . JEM1406a (talk) 09:43, 8 August 2. 018 (UTC)
I shouldn’t have to repeat what I already said above, but it appears I must — “How do you think I detected your copyvio? To me it was flagrant or obvious, undisguised, unconcealed, overt, glaring, etc, all synonyms for blatant.” The copyvio was blatant, stood out like a sore thumb, which is why I detected it. I never mentioned your motivation, deliberate or otherwise. Moriori (talk) 23:18, 8 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
