I should note, the Regimental Surgeon was my father's friend and his commanding officer. My father, who is 90, was there and would be very interested in reading anything written by Lynn.

The first flag raised on Japanese soil during WW2?

I have a copy of a photograph of an American flag raised on Iwo Jima early on the morning of D-day, February 19th, 1945. Could it be a photograph of the first American flag raised on Japanese soil. (JCH1952 (talk) 03:52, 23 October 2009 (UTC))

raising the flag

I would like to know if there are any missing names in the raising of the flag. I know it says there were six men and three of which were killed but, what about the men who replaced those three? does anyone out there know if one of the men was named leonard G.
