Oxford bits and pieces

Allow me to add a further welcome to Wikipedia. I've spotted your activity on a few Oxford-related pages, so thought I'd stop by. In particular, I was the initial author of both Jesus Professor of Celtic and Marshal Foch Professor of French Literature, so I'm delighted to see that you've started an article on the faculty as a whole. (Disclaimer: I read Jurisprudence so know nothing about the FMML!) I'll take a look and see what I can do to help with it. Any questions / problems, do let me know. No problem. You'll see that I've had a go at the FMML article, with various minor details improved. There are various boring style guidelines in the Manual of Style here, most of which you'll never remember even if you read them, but some of them stick in my head such as not having "The" at the start of sub-headings, having a short summary of the article as a lead section and avoiding external links in the prose (collecting them at the end instead). Bencherlite, I do (only now you remind me!) remember reading that bit about no 'The' at the start of subheadings, and introductory summaries. Thanks for adding them. I hope you don't mind me removing the separate subheading for members of the French sub-faculty. I did originally have it as a subsection, but there are horrendously complicated political reasons for playing down its importance. In fact, the whole project is proving to be an exercise in diplomacy and I think I should probably just edit articles on dead poets instead. Thank you once again for your courtesy.

Not at all. Thank you for alerting me to the existence of Jean-Yves Tadié, a name I've now added to the list of Marshal Foch professors (thought there was a large gap between Shackleton and Bowie but couldn't find the missing name!) Do you know anything about those professors, particularly Jacques Scherer or Michael Sheringham, that could be used to make the list of professors more interesting and / or get small articles about Scherer and Sheringham underway? There was an article on Michael Sheringham but it appears to have been deleted. A shame, as he has just been made FBA.

I've added a few external references, Chiswick Chap. I hope that helps. I was rather hoping Francofil would qualify for notability as a 'non-commercial organisation' because of its international scope and relative longevity (in the academic humanities having an electronic forum in the 1990s was amazingly forward-looking).
