Quake III Arena engine vs. id Tech 3

I've read the section. Prior to the name change in 2007, various press releases and articles refer to the engine as the "Quake III (Team) Arena engine". I think that the pre-2007 releases should be referred to as the "Quake III (Team) Arena engine", while the post-2007 releases should be called "id Tech 3". I find this similar to what the WWE is trying to do, when they decided to retroactively refer to themselves as the WWE (i.e., WWE Champion Hulk Hogan defeated Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania III).
