Frog and A Pair of Geese edit

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Frog and A Pair of Geese, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Welcome from the 1.0 Editorial Team edit

Hi, and thanks for signing up for the 1.0 team. We've been testing a bot for article selection, and you can see the preliminary results here. We're currently tweaking the algorithm and writing more parameters, so we can select 20-30,000 articles for the next offline release (Version 0.7). In the meantime, we're (very) slowly reviewing manual nominations for V0.7, as well as trying to coordinate assessment work with WikiProjects - right now we're looking at considering a rewrite of the parameters. We also aim to encourage improvements to core topics and the core supplement (which are important but often weak articles) through the Core Topics Collaboration (though this has been poorly supported of late).

So, do any of these things interest you? Please let me know how you'd like to participate. Thanks again, Walkerma (talk) 05:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for getting in touch. It's best just to pick what interests you. Do you want to be expanding & improving weaker core articles, reviewing articles for possible inclusion the next DVD, or perhaps you're interested more in the software end of things? (I looked over your user page links). Do you write bots at all? Or Javascript applications? Please let me know where you'd enjoy helping. Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 20:55, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi! Our new Core Topics Collaboration is Boat. Would you be able to help expand the article or clean it up! This important article really needs a lot of work. Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 02:43, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Chemical compound etc edit

Hi Ivan - Selamat bertemu! (Did I spell that right - I studied Indonesian 20 years ago!). There are quite a few terms chemists use that can appear very similar, but they are not quite the same.

Is this clear? If not I'll try and explain further, but the subtleties can be hard if you're not a chemist! I think it's great if you're helping to improve the Indonesian Wikipedia, particularly if you're translating some of the more important chemistry articles. Cheers, Walkerma (talk) 05:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Didymoteicho edit

Hi Ivan - Thanks for getting back to me. Would you be able to make the image right side up again? My apologies if this is something ridiculously simple... I just don't know how to do it. Thanks, Kafka Liz (talk) 09:27, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alright, I will take this job. After I done it for you, I will tell you by sending a message to your talk page. Sorry, if I take a quite long time because I'm quite busy right now, okay? Ivan Akira (talk) 01:37, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh yeah, do you want me to replace the image or just upload to a new image that will have a title like commons:Image:Didymoteicho2 (Corrected).jpg? Ivan Akira (talk) 02:16, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Ivan Akira - The fix on the right is the correct one. If you can just replace the image, Image:Didymoteicho2.jpg, that would be great. Thank you so much! Kafka Liz (talk) 14:08, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's done now see it for yourself okay? Ivan Akira (talk) 12:41, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for fixing it. :) Kafka Liz (talk) 15:52, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hey, it's no problem. You're welcome. Ivan Akira (talk) 07:03, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have three questions edit

I made an edit today--one edit--to the article Carrie Prejean and have not made an edit to the article in days, but yet another editor reversed my ONE edit and then reported me on the 3RR notice board. I find this to be a clear use of Wikipedia to win a debate about article content and direction. Prejean was called a series of negative things by Perez Hilton, most of the words are contemptuous and vile, such as the b-word and c-word. There are editors that believe that each and every one of Hilton's use of those words MUST be included in the article about Prejean. Now, I don't see the need to have an article about Prejean dominated by the words and comments of ONE individual (highly negative words at that) dominate the life story of Prejean. It is tantamount to having the words of Saddam Hussein concerning George W Bush dominate the Wikipedia article about Bush. It violates Wikipedia avowed goal of NPOV and it violates BLP. Now, I know that consensus in Wikipedia editing is one of the goals, but consensus does NOT override other valid Wikipedia ideals such as BLP. There can be a compromise made where the gist of Hilton's highly negative opinion is included in the article, but at the same time it does NOT dominate the life story of Prejean. Prejean is notable for many, many reasons, not just her public fight with Hilton. She is notable for being a successful model; she is notable for participating in Deal or No Deal; she is notable for being the current Miss California USA; and she is now notable for being a TV personality. My first question is: Can you at least review the article and see if the second, third, fourth, and fifth repetitions of the b-word and c-word violates BLP? I believe that it does. And my second question is: Is it appropriate to make a report on an editor for violating 3RR even though that editor has only made one edit? And my third question is: Is misusing 3RR to win a debate on the proper interpretation of BLP appropriate? I don't think so.--InaMaka (talk) 15:59, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I will investigate your problem... even I can't doing so much right... sorry for a month delay answering your query... I'm in a quite busy back then. Ivan Akira (talk) 11:32, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Can you at least review the article and see if the second, third, fourth, and fifth repetitions of the b-word and c-word violates BLP?
I think based on Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons, you should write with care:
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid paper; it is not our job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives. The possibility of harm to living subjects is one of the important factors to be considered when exercising editorial judgment.
Based on that, I think at some level, it violate the Biographies of living persons policy.
Is it appropriate to make a report on an editor for violating 3RR even though that editor has only made one edit?
Hmmm... Wikipedia:Three-revert_rule mostly talk about somewhat edit war scenario. So if you angaged in the edit war, wikipedia is not allowed it. I believe such report based on Wikipedia policy is permited.
Is misusing 3RR to win a debate on the proper interpretation of BLP appropriate?
Sure is no. But some editor must agree each other and should instead resolve disagreements through discussion, consensus-building and ultimately dispute resolution. Ivan Akira (talk) 13:26, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

English edit

I think you could be considered an advanced (level 3) speaker of English now. You have an advanced vocabulary and can discuss articles and simultaneously learn words. The only problem I can find with your English is that you lack subjects of sentences, but that is to be expected, I think, as you came from a language where they did not. -Panther (talk) 01:47, 30 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wow, I'm so surprised with this... I choose to use en-2, because I think I always (and will always) make some mistake when building my sentences... That's why, I choose en-2, plus I don't want to be conceited person... While "lack subjects of sentences"?? YES, you're absolutely right! I have no idea, why my english is so terrible, but in my free time (hope I have), maybe I will learn English by myself by doing some test, so I can improve my English... Thanks, I really appreciate for your concern about this. Maybe I will change to en-3 later (considering your suggestion)... Ivan Akira (talk) 03:40, 30 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Beta test of Version 0.7? edit

Ivan, if you're interested in testing out Version 0.7, please download the collection from here. BE WARNED - it's a big file (about 1 GB if I recall) so use broadband! Okawix is the offline reader software. There is a problem we know about - there are some broken and missing links in the topical index file. If you find any other errors, please let us know.

Contrary to what I had said before on WP, the Okawix software is GPL and open source.

Once this has been completed and published, we will be ready to start discussing Version 0.8. All the best, Walkerma (talk) 05:09, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ram Narayan edit

Hi Chris, of course I can help you. But today, 1st February, I have a final test. So I will start to translate the introduction at tommorow, 2nd February. How it is sound? And oh yeah, you can just simply write to me via my talk page, okay? Ivan Akira 23:54, 31 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot and good luck with your test (I have one soon, too)! I moved the content here like you suggested, so the talk stays together. Regards Hekerui (talk) 01:10, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Now, I have done with the translation (and proofreading) of introduction section. You can see it at Ram Narayan in Wikipedia Indonesia. Ivan Akira (talk) 02:42, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

About Okawix edit

Hi Ivan,

maybe you are very busy; in this case, do not worry about my question.

I downloaded Okawix;it is really good!

However, I have installed the corpus on a removable disk, sometimes windows changes the drive letters. and I receive the message "en.wikipedia vanished, do you want to remove it?", according to whether or not the drive letter has changed. Is there a way to tell Okawix where to find the corpus in your disk? (of course, I could try to change the drive letter!).

I've seen that you have discussed something about okawix here, maybe you know how to solve the problem, I have not found a solution using google.

By the way, I have asked the question also in Wikipedia talk:Version 1.0 Editorial Team. Thank you anyway! --Popopp (talk) 17:49, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

It seems that right-clicking there is the option "add a corpus from local file"! That should work!--Popopp (talk) 18:10, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi Popopp, I'm really sorry... I can't quickly answer your inquiry... Lately I'm very busy with my university's assignment. But it seems that you have resolved your problem?
At the final version that I have used, if the drive letter changed, you should re-add the corpus to okawix, because there is no mechanism that will automatically find the moved corpus. And I see that you have got little workaround, even though the workaround is not so convenience, but I beleive you can only re-add the corpus again when your drive letter changed.
Again I'm sorry for my late answer. Merry Christmas, and happy new year (soon)! Ivan Akira (talk) 00:29, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Discussion at Talk:Sarah Azhari edit

I invite you to please join the discussion at Talk:Sarah Azhari.

Hello, we are seeking help with the Sarah Azhari article, created in 2013 & recently the subject of a deletion proposal. At issue was whether or not the Indonesian language sources establish notability. I am inviting you to the discussion at Talk:Sarah Azhari#Help with Indonesian language sources because you are in the Category:User id-N & have a minimum of 1,000 edits across all Wikimedia projects.

I realize that some of you are very busy while others may no longer be editing. Nevertheless, I thought it wise to consult with you.

Thank your for the work that you do on Wiki[mp]edia! Peaceray (talk) 21:06, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
