Welcome to Wikipedia! edit

Hello, Isambard Kingdom. Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. My name is Howicus, and I've been an editor here for some time. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

If you're working on creating a new article, you should take a look at this page on your first article. Also, this page has instructions on how to cite sources, complete with videos.

If all this Wikicode is a little overwhelming, WP:Cheatsheet may help untangle it.

If you're looking for a tutorial of sorts, The Wikipedia Adventure is a good option.

And if you need more help, I'd recommend getting live help at the Wikipedia help chat channel: click here to join. Additionally, you could ask me on my talk page, try the Teahouse (a help page for new users) or click here to ask for help here on your talk page and a volunteer will visit you here shortly

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, welcome, and have fun editing! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 01:16, 3 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I will participate with as much time as I can find! Isambard Kingdom (talk) 17:01, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nice! Make sure you add yourself to the list of members.
And by the way, in my opinion it is pretty safe to say a galaxy is huge. It isn't relative because there aren't bigger structures. There are galaxy clusters, but they aren't... one thing. I hope you understand my point
Third, Galaxy is already a Featured Article. You don't need to spend so much time modifying it Tetra quark (don't be shy) 17:21, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Relax edit

The Galaxy article is already a Featured Article. You don't need to change it Tetra quark (don't be shy) 18:57, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

STOP Tetra quark (don't be shy) 19:09, 11 January 2015 (UTC) PLEASE STOPReply

Excuse me, but I am making constructive edits. I'm finding your conduct to be bordering on harassment. Please stop using my Talk page. Thank you. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 19:44, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
That's great, but please do all your changes in one or two edits. Don't save the page every time you change a small detal. You flooded the history page and now my watchlist. Tetra quark (don't be shy) 22:05, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Second time: Tetra, I am asking you to layoff. I am a legitimate editor with first hand experience in writing about science. You are hearby warned to stop writing messages to my talk page. Your conduct constitutes harassment. Stop it. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 22:11, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I didn't mean to sound rude. We started off on the wrong foot but hey, your edits aren't bad. We need more people copyediting science articles and I'd be glad if you edit more. However, I just want to ask you to save your edits the least times possible. Try to change everything you wish in one go to avoid flooding. I yelled at you here because it seemed you weren't reading my messages and that you were a new member. Anyway let's not get angry at each other. Cheers Tetra quark (don't be shy) 22:21, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
How can I make this more clear? Get lost. Leave me alone. Go away. And do not write here. You are harassing me. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 22:31, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
You're the one harassing now. I already said I didn't mean to be rude. Perhaps you should pay more attention to what I say Tetra quark (don't be shy) 01:40, 12 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

sorry edit

what I mean to say in my edit summary is that it's ok to mention how the accelerated expansion of space was discovered. It was discovered only two decades ago using a supernova. It is better to leave that info there because the paragraph would be a little too repetitive (the word 'expanding' everywhere and stuff) Tetra quark (don't be shy) 04:14, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

We are editing an article, so if you don't wanna talk, stop reverting my edits Tetra quark (don't be shy) 04:16, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

How do I block a user from my talk page? edit

How do I block a user from my talk page?

You're being hostile now. I already apologized to you in the past Tetra quark (don't be shy) 04:29, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Also, would you mind to talk about the edits to get to a consensus? I'd be glad to do so Tetra quark (don't be shy) 04:31, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
If you keep being immature, I'll have to be immature back. I will just rollback (sequence revert) everything you change. Can you notice how broken it is to read the universe article now? It is just full of unrelated sentences thrown there. Please, stop being immature and let's discuss that Tetra quark (don't be shy) 04:52, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

universe edit

I was going to capitalize the word universe later, but thanks Tetra quark (don't be shy) 19:24, 16 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I think you are wasting your time trying to standardize some of these details across of all Wiki. I suggest working constructively with others on specific articles, and, then, allowing space for other opinions. And, once again (not sure how often I've asked), please refrain from commenting on my talk page. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 19:02, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Geomorphology edit

That's correct. It really seem a little ambiguous but thanks for the revert. Tetra quark (don't be shy) 15:22, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

In my humble opinion, you spend too much time and energy editing the same article, as if it needed urgent attention. My suggestion is to edit a few other things. For instance, the lead section of Curiosity (rover) needs improvement, considering it is being used as a news feed Tetra quark (don't be shy) 20:11, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I choose to work on articles that interest me. Important articles, Science, Universe, Sun, Galaxy, etc., interest me. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 00:35, 19 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I beg you, please stop being immature. You're not the owner of the articles Tetra quark (don't be shy) 20:40, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I find your calling me "immature" provocative. I suspect that I'm probably old enough to be your grandmother! Isambard Kingdom (talk) 00:35, 19 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

3rr edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. --John (talk) 21:28, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Offer: Solving recent disputes edit

@Jpgordon: @John: @Tetra quark: Hi Isambard Kingdom

I have recently become aware of the issues your are facing with another Wikipedia editor, and have seemingly now become indirectly involved with these current editing disputes. I do think most of your and Tetra quark edits here are very useful on both the Universe and Galaxy pages, but there are only a few changes which I do question or think should be reorganised.

I.e. In the modified 'Universe' article says; "The Universe includes all of spacetime; the entire contents of outer space; all matter, energy, dark matter, and dark energy; all galaxies, stars, and planets; all humans and every living thing; all molecules, atoms, subatomic particles, photons, and their wave dualities; all physical constants, physical laws and fundamental interactions."

Adding wave dualities is very confusing. It is sort of right, but my objection is that the average reader, not known about the subject, has no idea what it means. Some school kid doing some assignment, it is well beyond their level, and the implications of the subtleties of quantum mechanics, is beyond the average user's grasp. It might be true, but it is inappropriate in the leader of a complex article like this one. (It would be better placed later in the article, for example.) I might be wrong, but at least we should properly debate it.

I've also noticed, 95% changes are quite trivial in nature, being basic syntax, grammar or some simple minor issue.

So to solve them, and once the ban is lifted on Tetra quark, I'm more than happy to act as a mediator to solve some of these current issues, until we can try to gain some consensus. I have been an author and teacher on astronomy and cosmology, with several decades of experience, so I probably qualify for knowing the subject at hand.

In achieving open consensus, I'd be happy to make these edits on both your behalf, but there is still a little confusion with the current article protection levels. (This is readily solvable.) Discussion should be done on Talk:Universe and Talk:Galaxy pages.

Perhaps we can iron out these problems once and for all, and make editing astronomy related articles a little easier on all of us. The amount of work on many other pages is so substantial, and so few of us editing, is seems such a waste to cull the editor numbers even further. Let's solve this cooperatively.

Tell me what you think.

Best Wishes to successful future edits.

@Arianewiki1. Thanks for your advice. The subject of the Universe lead is being discussed at Talk:Universe. No "mediation" is needed. Just work with consensus from there. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 08:48, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Excellent. I hope you keep on improving articles as you are doing, and if you like an assistance or need comment, don't hesitate to say so. I do look forward to see your improvements.

Thank you again. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 01:43, 21 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Archiving User Talk pages edit

I noticed you have archived your page after just ten days of discussion.

I do understand for you wanting to do this, especially with negative posts, but with a 3RRR warning from an Administrator, this is not really advisable. (Sure it is embarrassing, and I've been there before too, but hiding such things make you look more guilty.)

Of then knowing there is a problem, other editors knowing it can chip-in and help to solve these editing problems, rather than having to search everywhere to find what is going on.

Anyway, you can often hide it later on, when the dust has settled and everyone has moved on. If you have questions on this, read Talk page guidelines As it says; "Many new users believe they can hide critical comments by deleting them. This is not true: Such comments can always be retrieved from the page history. Removal of a comment is taken as proof that the user has read it."

Cheers. Arianewiki1 (talk) 06:54, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Arianewiki, thanks for the advice. No content has been hidden. It is all in the archive. I just needed to figure out how to make an archive. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 08:51, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Universe edit

The "cylinder" referred to the shape of each of the items in the image. For example, the Earth is inside a cylinder Tetra quark (talk) 13:30, 29 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, thanks, I see that more clearly now. Still, the caption needed to be fixed. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 14:44, 29 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Not trying to be snarky or anything but why do you spend so much time and energy on featured articles that don't need radical changes? You could help me edit Earth's orbit and Barred spiral galaxy, for instance. They are still needing improvs. Tetra quark (talk) 23:43, 3 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dark matter edit

Would you mind to stop being such a stubborn kid? Tetra quark (talk) 21:55, 6 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
