Speedy deletion nomination of Omid Amraei

edit

A tag has been placed on Omid Amraei requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles – see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Status and Advice

edit

Two different administrators, myself and NawlinWiki, have removed this article because it gives no indication of notability ,and because we have not being able to find ay sources that might support it. Please do not enter it again unless you have references providing substantial coverage to show notability , references from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. Your recent edits

edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 08:30, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Moved to userspace

edit

I moved the article for the event to your userspace, but there were multiple issues with it.

First off, it came off as promotional in tone. Phrases such as "emphasis on making a great deal of effort for better understanding of art and taking advantage of it for a better life and coexistence" and "moving towards the human values" are seen as promotional. Phrases such as "the greatest multinational artistic event in Middle East" are considered to be unambiguously promotional. Let's put it this way: phrases such as these are almost always a matter of opinion and things people say in order to make people think well of whatever they're talking about. You have to phrase things neutrally and in an encyclopedic manner. The only time you can ever say things such as "the greatest" is if you have multiple reliable sources referring to it as such. Even then you have to phrase it very, very carefully in order to avoid it seeming as if Wikipedia is endorsing something as the greatest ever.

Secondly, and most importantly, the festival has no coverage in reliable sources. By reliable sources I mean that it has received coverage in things that are independent of the subject (the festival) and are considered to be trustworthy as far as Wikipedia is concerned. I need to put an emphasis on Wikipedia, as something that you might see as trustworthy might not necessarily be so on here. Blogs aren't usable as reliable sources except in very rare circumstances. The only time they're usable is when you have something by someone that is so overwhelmingly notable and so much of an authority that they would be seen as a reliable source. However, if that person is involved with the festival then they would be seen as a WP:PRIMARY source and they can not give notability to the article. I just can't find anything that shows that this festival is notable. It's only been active for about a year or two, so this is probably why. We can't have articles on subjects that haven't received coverage and Wikipedia is not here to make up for this lack of coverage. Articles should be added to the mainspace after they receive coverage and not before.

In any case, you can find the article at User:Irreporter/Afdesta Online Festival. I've edited it down to a basic stub and have removed the promotional material. There still aren't sources, but that's because none of the ones that were previously on the article were usable and I couldn't find any to replace them.
