Hockey articles

Iris, thanks for your help editing hockey articles! Check out WP:HOCKEY if you'd like to join the hockey Wikiproject. As a side note, please don't update players' stats until the end of the season. Thanks!  RasputinAXP  c   13:10, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

your userboxes

I just wanted to let you know that use of copyrighted images is not allowed on userpages. Specifically, Image:Microsoft Windows XP Logo.svg should be removed, and the status of Image:Firefox logo 305x150.png is questionable. There are other premade boxes you can use that don't break copyright laws, if you look for them. - CheNuevara 12:56, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Image:WolfmotherPromoPic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:WolfmotherPromoPic.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 13:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Please dont remove things off my userpage

rather than remove the whole userbox, why not leave me a message? or remove the image? surely its rude toedit someones userpage OTT as it wasnt needed without a message. Im within my rights to be a bit angry Fethroesforia 22:31, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:PetrPrucha.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:PetrPrucha.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ccwaters 20:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:PetrPrucha.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:PetrPrucha.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ccwaters 21:11, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Niptucklogo.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Niptucklogo.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Jagr.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Jagr.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image tagging for Image:Jeff Buckley Grace Sin-E.ogg

Thanks for uploading Image:Jeff Buckley Grace Sin-E.ogg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Reverting Jimmy Page

Could you explain your reason for reverting the Jimmy Page page please? I tagged the article to include citations because for every citation it has there are 4 or 5 more that are missing and the article is very content heavy (you can see my earlier comment about this on the JP talk page). Thanks Candy 07:25, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Removal from Jeff Buckley page

Hi Iris, I can understand how you felt Ether Frolics was not notable enough to include in the tribute song list. Not many people have heard of the band but we (I, James Warden was a member and wrote the song you deleted) did manage to put out some great music and tour the United States, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

If you are curious to hear some music to see how legit we are, you can check out our page on last.fm. I leave it up to you if you want to add us back in to the list.

Thank you for considering this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jimiwo (talkcontribs) 19:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC).

You must have the wrong person because I didn't remove this edit you speak of, nor can I even find the revision in question. IrisKawling 13:47, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
oops, sorry. I think it was "dissolve" right after you.--Jimiwo 20:10, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Marian Gaborik

This page has recently been 'moved' to diacriticals form. It's been argued that the consensus held (months ago) in favor of non-diacriticals, is now out of date. Does that warrant a page movement? GoodDay 19:20, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

  • I myself have no edits to Gaborik's page, however if you're just asking my stance, it's my belief that European hockey players articles on the English Wikipedia should be how their name is displayed everywhere else including on their NHL jerseys-- and that is without diatrics. Some European Wikipedians disagree, and there are several articles which contain full diatrics, I don't know if a full agreement can ever be reached, but that's my 2 cents. IrisKawling 22:09, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I too, prefer no diacriticals. As we (anti-diacriticals editors) are in the minority, we'll have to get use to it. Regrettably, it's only a matter of time before the pro-diacritical editors 'move' the Jaromir Jagr page (again). Thanks for your views. GoodDay 23:01, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Led Zeppelin

Thank you so much for the work you did on this article, especially the adding of audio samples to the article. I did some of the work towards this, but got preoccupied with another task, and then someone reverted my work. Thank you so much for doing the whole thing, it was a huge help. Hopefully we can get the article to at least "good" status.

Thanks.

--FrasierC 23:11, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Your welcome.. it is also my goal for the article to achieve at least "GA". IrisKawling 02:37, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Round the numbers, don't floor them

I have undone your edits to list of National Hockey League statistical leaders. All of those numbers round up to the second decimal point, not down as your edits suggest. − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 19:12, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Jeff_Buckley_Grace_Sin-E.ogg

Thanks for uploading Image:Jeff_Buckley_Grace_Sin-E.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 10:17, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

I've fixed that, thank you. IrisKawling 20:03, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Commercial use of Image:BrendanShanahan.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:BrendanShanahan.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:BrendanShanahan.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:BrendanShanahan.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:12, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
