August 2010 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Ip82166, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it Using a portion of your (current) ip as your handle is a bad idea, see WP:Username policy#Internet addresses.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. --Andrensath (talk | contribs) 09:10, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

How do I change it? Point is that i made an edit with my ip-address that's why I made such a name.Ip82166 (talk) 09:26, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

With the low number of edits you have, I'd simply create a new account if I were you. Otherwise, go to WP:RENAME, read the instructions there, and then file on WP:CHUS. --Andrensath (talk | contribs) 09:30, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

How do I create a new account and make sure that admin. know that I am the same person, in order to be transparent?Ip82166 (talk) 09:33, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

You don't have to. Administrators, as a class, have no special privileges on enWP when it comes to knowing about previous accounts. If, however, you want to preserve a degree of continuity, then #REDIRECT [[User:New name]] and #REDIRECT [[User talk:New name]] on your user and user talk (this page) pages respectively will direct people to the pages associated with whatever name you decide to change to. --Andrensath (talk | contribs) 09:49, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Voting in an Articles for Deletion discussion edit

Hi, just like in real-life, you can only vote once in an AfD. I have stricken your 2nd and 3rd votes from Racism in the Palestinian territories. Tarc (talk) 14:20, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I meant to reiterate it not to vote againIp82166 (talk) 20:35, 31 August 2010 (UTC).Reply

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Ip82166, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 00:18, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
