If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Introduction to Legal Sources in U.S. Intelligence Law requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. BigDwiki (talk) 05:40, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article Introduction to Legal Sources in U.S. Intelligence Law has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Very little actual content, seems unremarkable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. BigDwiki (talk) 21:12, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, IntelligenceLawyer, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

Dear Administrators, I believe I may have been blocked by mistake, but I can see why the administrator might have thought at first glance that my user name was promotional. My user name is "IntelligenceLawyer" because I am an American law professor specializing in U.S. Intelligence Law. I think the administrator who applied the block might have seen that I am working on an entry for the non-profit creative-commons organization "IntelligenceLaw.com" and thought that my user name "IntelligenceLawyer" might be a promotion for that website. IntelligenceLaw.com and IntelligenceLawyer are similar but still very distinct names. I do admit that I am an unpaid editor and lecturer who donates free law school courses to that website, but other than that one starter article there are no other articles I plan to write about IntelligenceLaw.com for Wikipedia. Plus, I should mention that IntelligenceLaw.com is a 100% non-profit creative-commons website. There aren't even any adds to generate revenue. The site is a free creative commons project like Wikipedia in the truest sense. It is dedicated to providing free law school courses to Americans affected by domestic intelligence activities. I would really like to keep the name if possible because 95% of the other articles I plan to write or edit on Wikipedia are all still related to my primary area of expertise--U.S. intelligence law. I've noticed quite a few articles related to intelligence law topics that are badly in need of revision, and I would like to keep the name "IntelligenceLawyer" because it accurately reflects my genuine expertise in this field. I think it would give readers and administrators well deserved confidence in my edits, as any edits I might make would always be based on my many years of research, scholarship, and teaching intelligence law at the law-school level. Intelligence law is an area where confusion and misinformation abounds, and I would like to invest some of my spare time outside of the classroom to cleaning up errors and adding reliable references to existing intelligence articles on Wikipedia. I hope you will see your way clear to letting me keep the user name "IntelligenceLawyer." Thank you for taking the time to consider this request. I look forward to hearing back from you at your convenience. Best regards, IntelligenceLawyer

Decline reason:

I see that you have not edited since since July 2011. The unblock request did not appear in the list of pending unblock requests because of a typo until the typo was corrected a few hours ago, so nobody knew about your request. Since you have not given an email address, it is impossible to contact you. By now, most likely either you have long ago created another account, or else you will never come back. However, on the off chance that you do ever see this, and want an unblock, feel free to post another unblock request. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:50, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Thank you for your thoughtful response to the block message. If you are unblocked under this username, the username will remain controversial, because it is at best borderline under our policies. To assist in making sure that your contributions are evaluated and accepted on their merits without any distraction, it would be better for you to use a different name. The page User:IntelligenceLawyer/IntelligenceLaw.com has been deleted in accordance with Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, as it was unambiguously promotional. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:50, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
