my page got a speedy deletion for advertising but I wasn't advertising at all. I was only giving information on the item Indian Herb. Indian Herb (talk) 08:52, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
- The page ultimately wasn't deleted for being an advertisement, but it clearly was not an acceptable Wikipedia article either (in fact we already have an article on black salve, which according to your references seems to be the same thing). Those references you used, however, were hardly reliable sources - and for medical content our requirements are particularly strict. Huon (talk) 14:19, 26 December 2016 (UTC)

What was the advertising part? I wasn't trying to advertise anything. A friend of mine asked if I could make a Wikipedia page on everything I know about the item Indian Herb that I had learned from years of research and so that's what I did. I wasn't trying to advertise it I was just giving information about it. Isn't that what you're supposed to do on here...give out information? Indian Herb (talk) 08:41, 26 December 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, no it isn't. Any encyclopedia, not just Wikipedia, is a tertiary source. Simply put, that means we do not write about a given subject, we write about what is written about a given subject. We have specific requirements for reliability for the sources we write from; they can be found at WP:RS. Since this substance is used medicinally, we apply even stricter standard's for the sourcing. Those requirements can be found at WP:MEDRS. Lastly, see the comments above on where to start an article and on the fact that what you were writing about appears to already be covered in another article. Basically no matter what I write it will still be considered as advertising because it's a medical substance? I don't see anyway around explaining what I said in my page without actually saying it that way Indian Herb (talk) 18:55, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
