Thanks for uploading Image:CVP309.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:49, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wiki-Project Metal

edit

Hi!

I have flipped through the Wiki-Project Metal page, and I was wondering how I could become a "member"... I've been participating in the creation/edition of:

  • Aarni, a Finnish Avant-Garde Metal band. I created it completely, and many parts have been modified (but few added) by another member. I also created an article for Bathos, an Aarni album.
  • [[Mallcore], the derogatory term for metalcore and nu-metal. I added pictures, a better structure, trivia, external links, and provided protection against vandalism.
  • Disturbed, the nu-metal band. I vainly attempted to state the disagreement concerning their genre in the article. After a lot of edit war, I gave up due to lack of sources stating the disagreement.

I am relatively new on the Wikipedia website, but I know how to create/edit/improve articles in an efficient manner. I don't know if I have to like give a candidature for the WikiProject Metal, so thats why I wrote you. ^^

If you want more information, you may want to look at my user page, but it is very messy and I have spent absolutely no time working on it (apart for collectioning userboxes). I have looked through your user page, and it seems we have a lot in common. If you want, you can email me.

Thanks in advance,

--Zouavman Le Zouave 18:35, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

:) Thanks for the change on the user page! I wrote it when it was late at night, so I probably didn't pay much attention to capitalization. Oh so the adherence to the WikiProject isn't that big of a deal, I see... As you may have seen, I am very involved in the fight against Mallcore and other rubbish styles of "music". If you have any interesting sources that could be useful in order to state the criticism that certain metalcore/nu-metal bands receive by real metal fans, don't hesitate to send me a message ^^

Thanks again!

--Zouavman Le Zouave 21:01, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The problem with Mallcore is that the fans of the nu-metal and metalcore genres (usually teenagers) are willing to do ANYTHING to classify Disturbed, KoRn, or Marilyn Manson as "Heavy Metal", "Extreme Black Metal" (yes I've heard some idiots call Marilyn Manson that ^^), or metal in general... So in the end, people knowing nothing about metal (like journalists that study music in general) propagate the idea that the definition of a metal band is a tribe of nine satanic teens in constant conflict with their parents and whose band includes a drummer, a percussionist (if the drummer was talented enough, there should be no need for a percussionist), three guitarists, two full-time vocalists with the exact same voice, a bassist, and a DJ... And Ozzy Osbourne doesn't help...

Yeah, the only sources I could find did not fit the Wikipedia standards either. On the Mallcore article, I had written facts about Encyclopaedia Metallum and Mallcore, and how certain bands were refused, etc... However, I've stopped taking care of this article...

I think if we get enough Wikipedians who hate mallcore, we might be able to change some articles around (the last part of the introduction of the Disturbed article really disturbs me.) What do you think?

--Zouavman Le Zouave 23:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, don't worry I wasn't saying that all teens listen to metalcore/nu-metal. And I'm a teenager too so :p

I use the term Mallcore a lot ^^ to make it short, its a term designating the Nu-Metal and Metalcore genres... I usually like Avant-Garde metal, Doom Metal, Power Metal, Melodic Death Metal... I'm some kind of musical Indiana Jones, I like to look for new stuff... However I'm not only a metal fan, I love Nirvana (not the famous songs, though), Rage Against The Machine, and Classical Music...

Yeah, the Wikipedians contesting our opinions will find sources classifying mallcore bands as Disturbed or Slipknot Heavy Metal or whatever... so, we ought to get allied and contest this idiocity...

Actually, I got a separate email adress for MSN Messenger. Feel free to add me ^^

Fair use images

edit

Inclusion of fair use images in pages outside of the Main namespace is not permitted by Wikipedia's fair use policy. I have removed the fair use images from your User page. I have also gone through your uploads and tagged orphaned fair use images and fair use images missing rationales. If you do not wish the images to be deleted, please go through your upload log and address the issues. Thank you. --Slowking Man 13:15, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey

edit

Hey,

Read this and give your opinion:

Talk:Disturbed (Proposition for Statement)

And pass it around so that other people can say what they have to say!

Thanks in advance,

Z.L.Z.

Can you tell me how you got all the cool boxes that're on your page? I want to revamp my own user page to make it look better. If you want to do it for me, then please just use the bands that I already have on my page. I tried doing it myself but I fucked up. Thanks either way! Please do not arbitrarily change the band's genre. Its current state aims to be as neutral and unbiased as possible. Add to the list of their characteristics if you feel you must. --Sn0wflake 18:27, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dreamweaver (Golem album)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dreamweaver (Golem album), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Dreamweaver (Golem album). нмŵוτнτ 19:24, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Golem (band)

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Golem (band), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Golem (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Golem (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Grand illusion.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Grand illusion.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:33, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Swampsong

edit

The article Swampsong has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Sole reference is just a confirmation of track listing form the band's website.. CD does not meet notability without sources at minimum... made worse that no band member or track listed has any other information to confirm with. No reviews given and no real press noted anywhere past a handful of press releases.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. daTheisen(talk) 12:43, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
