editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Hostess (brand) has been reverted.
Your edit here to Hostess (brand) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.facebook.com/HostessComicAds) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on List of Hostess Comic Ad advertising characters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Carl Sixsmith (talk) 12:01, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Alexander Cabot III with this edit, has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. For constructive edits, always provide an informative edit summary so that editors have a brief description of your intentions. If you want to try out how editing Wikipedia works, please edit the sandbox page and not encyclopedia articles. If you have questions about editing Wikipedia, you might want to take a look at this tutorial. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Hostess Comic Ad advertising characters category
edit- In related notes:
- Please do not add Facebook pages to external links.
- Review the articles you are tagging to make sure that they support the category. Comic books are not characters. And unless the article refers to a particular use, don't add the category.
- Try not to add a category and its parent categories to an article.
- - J Greb (talk) 15:57, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Long and short: The article you are adding the category to do not support it. They do not mention the trivial use of the character in Hostess ads. They are unlikely to mention it. Please do not add it. - J Greb (talk) 22:26, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Trivial use, who defines trivial? The ads ran for over 7 years. Casper had over 30 different ads alone. They were licensed by both Hostess and the major comic companies. SO once again, who decides what is trivial and what they just aren't personally interested in?--Imapaqrat (talk) 23:58, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

- A very good place to start. Also look over WP:BRD. Before re-adding those categories or a piece of 1 line trivia, please discuss the additions.
- And a note of irony - you removed a parent category for what you want from an article where it could be justified by the article text. - J Greb (talk) 00:27, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Hostess (brand). Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 01:10, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- reliable sources?? I personally have over 315 Hostess comic ads. I have personally cataloged the Title Characters and guest characters of each ad. The section as a whole is not cited, so what is wrong with having more accurate and details information? I am personally the expert on Hostess Comic Ads. I have spent 100s of hours collecting facts regarding the iconic ad campaign.
- (See also my reply on my talk page) Sorry to say this - You are not considered a reliable, verifiable secondary source for material you are adding. That falls under original research and attempting to use Wikipedia to publish such. Material added to Wikipedia articles must be sourced to something other than your own research. And to show notability it has to be secondary sources. - J Greb (talk) 01:37, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
