April 2009 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Yeruham has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ydvihlhnsq, http://www.youtube.com/index?ytsession=lqKwVMDxTGsBAMIGrAuqIK969IRGYDsMZSbRIOSib80yyXedkFRAYeVoJbMJNSNnKH0iVP6aW7TmiU0wblzKxmkpE1DGRBGjCe7RY0t_08A_oPKmsrkT3w6vdxOO4mdBBU7471Blsts6ZXucj8LxITZcJ1kO9vbWeDsRoiIcUoKgldbEJvvTIVzKer3Pqs9Uxg6_ahZwpcjONT1AgqHfN1BLHC936In_PFaPKWSdEsWgRShJ9uwlFqbXNXarxMP8BOnJet2WkGLsIZv6ozcW_FyayfToGCFZ_WhsEgvv0ZlfBd3Imc8iwXIdDZJzU09XkQ2q2xdx2Gd-MqhTIOTlj_XtrFQ3rrKx0bkx6i1lf_Lvt4THbv9xOhT_P3rFzl-y4lkWFoXwBNGeG6st7KGkBR7k7gns3NQ7oyeJ5I1ze8Cb38oQTHeXEi_fgLrgWuJm (redirect from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ydvihlhnsq)). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 08:56, 26 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

  1.   Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Yeruham do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

  1.   Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Yeruham. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

Re: Yeruham edit

Hi Ilana! Please keep in mind that Wikipedia does not always contain only positive information about everything. We follow a policy of neutral point of view and write about topics objectively. In addition, we strive to base our information on reliable secondary sources. I welcome your attempt to improve the Yeruham article, but unfortunately most of the additions will have to go, as they do not conform to the two policies above. I have not had much time to work on the article, so the material is still there, but I will probably remove about 90% of it later.

As for YouTube links, we simply have a guideline against linking to YouTube and other public video websites. From a technical point of view, embedding your video into the website of the organization, and linking to that website, will prevent the bot from removing the link, but the videos you tried to post were of a clearly promotional nature and would therefore be considered spam (i.e. a human editor will remove them).

Lastly, I appreciate your willingness to contribute to Wikipedia to improve Israel-related articles, so please take the time to read our policies and guidelines (at the top of the page) and try to edit accordingly. I hope you find this place, and the way we operate, to your liking and decide to stay.

Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 10:12, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
