Hi. I see in a recent addition to Thunder Cloud (Mario Kart Wii) you included material from the Mario Kart wiki. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Distribution categories

Hi, we don't include both parent and child categories. When an organism is present in a "reasonable proportion" of the parts of a larger geographical division, then we just categorize it under that division (e.g. Category:Spiders of South America). When it's only present in a smaller proportion of the larger category, then we just categorize it under the smaller parts (e.g. Category:Spiders of Argentina‎ and Category:Spiders of Brazil, but not then Category:Spiders of South America). What a "reasonable proportion" amounts to is a matter of opinion; for South America I would say that Brazil + a couple of other countries is enough.

The idea is that categories form, so far as is practicable, a tree, so you don't have different parts of a branch present on the same article. Peter coxhead (talk) 13:27, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
