Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
Hello, Igdtuw. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.Deb (talk) 17:24, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear Deb,
I am employee of the organisation and has not been paid any thing for creating the page.
Further, this page has been established for the current Vice Chancellor of the State Government University of NCT of Delhi, appointed by the Honorable Chancellor and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. It is not intended as a promotional page for any individual. Instead, it serves to provide students with information about the Vice Chancellor and her brief profile, highlighting her as an inspiring figure.
She serves as a role model for the students of the university, and it is important for an increasing number of students to become acquainted with their Vice Chancellor and her background. Igdtuw (talk) 17:49, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
We would consider you to have a conflict of interest in this case. Secretlondon (talk) 18:12, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Being an employee of the organisation means that you are getting paid. The VC may well be notable, but that is not for you to decide, nor are you allowed to write in the promotional tone you have used. Your statement that "it is important for an increasing number of students to become acquainted with their Vice Chancellor and her background" may be true, but it does not follow that Wikipedia should carry out this basic communication task on behalf of the university; that is the university's job. Dr Dev will not be included in Wikipedia unless or until someone else writes an article about her that complies with the project guidelines. Deb (talk) 11:47, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Igdtuw, I'd like to clarify why I nominated your page for speedy deletion as a promotional article.
This sentence in particular is undeniably promotional language:
"epitomizes true leadership, exemplary administration, and passionate research. Her extensive research focuses on Deep Neural Networks, Speech Processing, Speech Modeling, Speech Recognition, and Speech Synthesis. With over three decades of unparalleled experience in administration, teaching, innovation, and research, Dr. Dev has an exceptional track record. She has published more than 120 research papers in prestigious international and national journals and conference proceedings. As an avid speaker and motivator, she has been invited to various national and international forums."
You also need to cite reliable sources and provide some proof of notability, especially when it's a biography of a living person. As your article stands at the time of nomination, it's unacceptable for a Wikipedia article. I'd look at a page like Adrian Melott as a decent example of an article on an academic. I suggest, especially with your disclosed conflict of interest, that you instead create a draft article and allow it to be reviewed by the new page patrol. jellyfish  17:54, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, and I noticed that your username, "Igdtuw", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Secretlondon (talk) 18:13, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Dear Team, I am new user to the Wikipedia and has been using on behalf of my State Government University in Delhi (INDIA). I have not been paid for this service and wanted to create a page for our Vice Chancellor Maam, Dr. Amita Dev. Intention was not to promote any organisation or person but was to make students familiar with the Vice Chancellor Madam. I request to kindly unblock my account., i will try my best possible to follow the guidelines of the Wikipedia and not promote any person or organisation.

Decline reason:

You count as an editor with a conflict of interest (WP:COI) and almost certainly count as an undeclared paid editor (WP:UPE), especially if you work for the university. You will not be unblocked to write about Dr. Amita Dev or anyone or anything else for which you have a conflict of interest. Yamla (talk) 18:36, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
