Benedict Obidinma Odinamadu moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Benedict Obidinma Odinamadu, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Thank you for uploading File:Oyibo Ekwulo Odinamadu.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. plicit 12:02, 19 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Iffybogus! Your additions to Draft:Oyibo Ekwulo Odinamadu have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 19:19, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have uploaded images of her college diploma certificates, orders, awards etc to support the content of her biography on Wikipedia.
I have add more references and citations. I will do more rewrite and editing before I resubmit for approval. Thank you. Iffybogus (talk) 21:23, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Wikimedia Commons is not the English Language Wikipedia. You are in serious danger of being blocked on Wikimedia Commons. If you beleive you have the authority to upload your files there it is mandatory that you engage with c:COM:VRT, where you must present your correct authority to upload your pictures. You need to engage with the processes there. You have already been warned by a Commons Administrator about uploading files which are incorrectly licenced. And conversations abiout Wikimedia Commons must be handled there, not here.
Here, on the English Language Wikipedia, you must follow the reviewer comments if you wish this draft to be accepted. We are not concerned here with pictures.
I will ask you a formal question about any relationship with the Odinamadu Family in a moment, and in a new section. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 07:33, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I note that you have now been block on Commons, for a period of one week. You must engage with that issue on your talk page there, c:User talk:Iffybogus. This is not the same as this talk page on the English Language Wikipedia.
I am trying hard to help you. To be helped you must engage with the process in the correct places 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 07:44, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Iffybogus. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Oyibo Ekwulo Odinamadu, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Iffybogus. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Iffybogus|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 07:33, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please note: I do not have any financial stake. I have not been paid for this edit. And I have no intentions of getting paid for any edits I make for Oyibo Ekwulo Odinamadu, now or in the future. Mrs Odinamadu was a woman of distinguished humanity who dedicated her life to public service and women's rights and empowerment. She was very honest and hardworking. Iffybogus (talk) 12:28, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your clear answer on payment. This is a question many Wikipedia editors are asked.
Just to be 100% clear, do you have any unpaid conflict of interest with the lady or her family or any organisation she was part if? 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 12:41, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
You appear to be ignoring this part of the question. Please answer it. A lack of answer will lead to the assumption that you do have a WP:COI. A clear yes or no answer will give the community the information requested. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 10:16, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I see from your c:User talk:Iffybogus that Draft:Oyibo Ekwulo Odinamadu is written about your late mother, and that it may be correct to assume that Draft:Benedict Obidinma Odinamadu is about your father. This is a WP:COI, and you need to make a correct declaration of that. Please do this wisely. I am deploying {{Connected contributor}} on each on your behalf. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 07:49, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have accepted this on the basis that I believe it has a better than 50% chance of surviving an immediate deletion process. However, I have doubts that the gentleman is notable. I want you to be aware of those doubts at this stage, and to be aware that a deletion process may well be initiated by another editor on the article. I will remain neutral in any deletion process since I am the reviewer who accepted the draft.
I see this as less of a memorial than the draft written about your late mother. Since it is very rare that I review a draft ore than once I will leave that to others.
You have had a difficult experience here and on Wikimedia Commons. Our rules are no respecters of personal bereavement, and I know you must be annoyed with me, upset because I have sought to apply those rules. I make no apology for doing that, but I apologise for causing you emotional distress inadvertently during your time of loss. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 08:01, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Iffybogus, how do you do? I came here to help you get Oyibo Ekwulo Odinamadu to mainspace. You see, the page doesn’t have to be a biography about her which details her WHOLE life. No, it shouldn't. I have gone through the references and most of them are not notable at all. Example is Oyibo speaks. My advice is, trim down the article and support every statement with a reliable reference. I usually remove unsourced statements myself because of this policy (click here). So, make sure that every statement is sourced. When you're done, ping me, I'll take a look at it. BTW, I’m not trying to be mean, anyị bú ofu. Abụghị m onye ọchá. Hello, Iffybogus. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Oyibo Ekwulo Odinamadu".
