Cumbersome introductions edit

Your recent edit of the introduction for New Bedford and other cities including Fall River is very cumbersome and should be thinned down to just a few reference cities at the most (one in each direction), as is detracts from the main topic of the article.

New Bedford is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. The city of New Bedford is located (downtown to downtown in driving distances) approximately 60 miles (97 km) south of Boston, 33 miles (53 km) southeast of Providence, Rhode Island, 12 miles (19 km) east of Fall River, 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Taunton, 38 miles (61 km) south of Brockton, 31 miles (50 km) northeast of Newport, Rhode Island, 45 miles (72 km) west of Hyannis, 212 miles (341 km) northeast of New York City, 437 miles (703 km) northeast of Washington, D.C., and 3,008 miles (4,841 km) miles northeast of Los Angeles, California, and 5,100 miles (8,200 km) northeast of Honolulu, Hawaii.

instead, something like this would be much more effective:

New Bedford is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States, located approximately 60 miles (97 km) south of Boston, 33 miles (53 km) southeast of Providence, Rhode Island, and 12 miles (19 km) east of Fall River.

October 2012 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at New Bedford, Massachusetts ‎. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Dougweller (talk) 20:43, 7 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've posted the above because you haven't responded to either the fact that you are being reverted or to the comments above. Discussion between editors is vital to Wikipedia. Dougweller (talk) 20:44, 7 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

ANI discussion edit

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Dougweller (talk) 15:30, 8 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. DMacks (talk) 16:55, 8 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistent disruptive editing. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
