Sources for Feline lower urinary tract disease

Hello, good work on Feline lower urinary tract disease, and thanks for the contribution. However, you forgot to add any references to the article. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and there is currently a push to encourage editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. What websites, books, or other places did you learn the information that you added to Feline lower urinary tract disease? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? Thank you very much. - SimonP 05:46, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Calif plants

Hi IceCream - nice starts on some California plants! I guess you know there's a bit of a drive on to ask people to cite sources so details can be checked. A couple of very reputable sources I've found useful for California plants are the Jepson Flora Project and (not yet complete, but very detailed for plants they have done) the Flora of North America, I've added details from them to some of the pages you've started, you might find them useful for other pages. Hope this helps! - MPF 12:04, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi IceCreamAntisocial. I removed the speedy delete because the article does assert notability, and it is not obvious that this person is not notable, so you should try using {{afd}} and explain your motivation in more detail. Thanks, Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 06:02, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Wilfrid Freeman

You kindly added a link from his page Wilfrid Freeman to RAF Officers. I would be much obliged if you would move it to F for Freeman rather than W for Wilfrid.

Being relatively unsophisticated in the finer points of wikipedia categories, would you also mind adding him onto the RAF Air Marshals category? Ta --pepperrell 15:17, 21 June 2006 (UTC) Thanks for doing that. --pepperrell 19:04, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Hi! Yes, I recently reverted Yantra Mandir (Delhi) because the edits of the article starting with those by the user 203.129.194.20 were filled entirely with text cut-and-pasted from this webpage, and possibly others; Google gave me several hits. Earlier versions of the article don't seem to be copyvio, so I simply reverted. It would be nice if someone could expand the article with their own words! Looking for Help

You recently recommend that my John P. Ryan article be deleted. I have tried to deal with some of your issues in the discussion page. However, since you obviously know more about article creation than me I might as well ask for some help. I’ve been trying to format US Silver Corporation for a couple of days, and I can’t figure out how to add a table of contents.

  • Hi! The table of contents should automatically appear when you add sections to the article, by putting two "=" around each section heading. For example, the way you did with my talk page... putting two "=" around the words "Looking for Help" made it a new chapter in the table of contents of my talk page automatically. Donno if that made any sense - Here's the Wiki guidelines about it. Also there is Wikipedia:Help_desk where you can post questions such as this where there are people who know more than I do and explain it better. Cheers, and good luck with your articles! IceCreamAntisocial 04:14, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Advice

Hi. I'd like your advice on the John P Ryan article. Should I remove the article until US Silver completes its listing process, or should I change his primary title as he has a much longer career as a CFO, and switch it back to CEO next month?

  • Well, what I would do is redirect John P. Ryan to US Silver, since by himself he might not be "notable" enough for his own article. Then in the US Silver article put a blurb about him, since he's the CEO and all. That's just what I would do, though, you don't have to follow my lead by any means. Cheers :) IceCreamAntisocial 03:07, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Tim Atchley article

You tagged the Tim Atchley article for speedy deletion, which was a perfectly reasonable thing to do. I just wanted to let you know that, since this was the user's first article, I left a {{vanity|Tim Atchley}} message on the user's talk page at User talk:TimAtchley, together with a {{welcome2}} message. This is often the best way to deal with a newbie's autobiographical first page. I also added a {{userfy}} message on the article page. With luck, this will convert the new user into a productive and happy editor writing encyclopedic articles. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 19:49, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Bad news and good news regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Veronica Castellana

First the bad news: I speedied Veronica Castellana as CSD A7, which was the correct thing to do; but I also speedied RN MARKET and LNC STAT, which was the wrong thing to do considering neither of them were biographies. For this I have to say I made a mistake.

Now the good news: As a result of my silly improper speedies, I've had more time to review the creator's contribs and have bundled all his other advertising creations in a even bigger, better, badder AfD. Deprod comment on Centre for Excellence in Computational Engineering

I've deprodded it mainly because I felt it deserved debate at AFD rather than prod. (The parent university is new and quite interesting with ISRO and US connections, although I found nothing special about this centre.) AfD nomination of Brian Smith (photographer)

An editor has nominated Brian Smith (photographer), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brian Smith (photographer) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Hello. You suggested that Esoteric Order of Art section should be merged to Tapani Mokko. That is not a good idea. High Mountain Park Preserve

Wondering about your editing of above-named page; don't want just to revert to the version before your edit in mid-January, since that will serve neither of our intended audiences well (and will frustrate us both). Also, you are far, far more experienced than I in this medium, so I'm hoping you can give some specific suggestions on what I must avoid as I try to serve my intended audience. . . .

In brief, the page that existed before your edits in January, while admittedly long-winded and in some other ways problematic, also contained a wealth of information valuable to my intended audience, which is members of the hiking public in North Jersey and New York City. The page as it now exists (due to elimination of directions for how to reach the park, rules for use of the park, etc.) is not hiker-friendly. --The directions are particularly important because trailhead access, and route of one of the trails, have recently been changed.

If you'd let me know the audience for which you're writing, I will try to take them into account as I edit. (I hope their interests aren't inherently incompatible with the interests of hikers!) I'd also welcome any specific suggestions you might have on what cannot properly be included in an entry.

Thanks!

Pushcat 18:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

  • Hi! Yeah it looks like I copyedited that article. Generally we don't put driving directions in encyclopedic articles, because that info is not of general interest and is available via Google searches or the park's website, etc. It also makes for clumsy reading unless one is specifically looking for that info. Articles at Wikipedia are not supposed to be aimed at specific audiences, but rather to a very general, worldwide audience. I edited the article after coming upon it randomly, as I do for other articles about which I know nothing and have no personal interest. So, if there is something you would like to put back in the article, feel free to do so. I won't remove it (someone else might, though!). I didn't mean to delete all your hard work! Thanks for your note. IceCreamAntisocial 19:32, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Proposed deletion

Hi, I noticed that you proposed deletion of Oakwood Baptist Church. I agree that it appears to be non-notable and should therefore be deleted. However, it did not appear that anyone had warned the original author; it's good practice to do so, and easy to do by copying the line that appears at the bottom of the PROD box once you have added it to the article. I've done it now for this case. Best wishes, Fayenatic london (talk) 20:43, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Revert on your edit

Hi. I just wanted to inform you that your edit has been reverted by an IP user. This user asked to undo my edit just before on my talk page. The problem is that there should not be two articles on one topic. That was the reason for your edit. I hope I was clear enough to the IP user. --Leyo 19:14, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

  • You are right and you explained it well. Seems that user doesn't understand the purpose of a redirect. S/he also seems to have an agenda and conflict of interest. Well, I'm going to leave it alone for now and perhaps redirect in the other direction later when the user goes away. Thanks for pointing it out. -IceCreamAntisocial 19:26, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I had the same feeling as you. It seems that Toxicology and Chemical Substances (without the "TCS" in the name) would be the most appropriate lemma. I am not sure whether we should move European Chemicals Bureau or TCS Toxicology and Chemical Substances to that place. The former article is older, but as I am the creator I might not be neutral to decide which article to keep and which to change into a redirect. But let's wait for the reply of the IP user concerning the name before moving articles. --Leyo 19:39, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Murdoch SSH page

I see you took our page away. I'm new to Wikipedia and would like to understand why. MUssh —Preceding unsigned comment added by MUssh (talkcontribs) 01:17, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Hi. I assume you mean Faculty of Arts and Education. I didn't take it away. What I did was merge the page by adding it to the article already in progress, Murdoch University. When there is an article on a topic, such as a university, it is generally most helpful to add information to it rather than create 100 articles about different aspects of the topic. An exception might be a university with a huge sports team: creating a separate article for the sports team would be a good idea because both articles will be very large. If you have more information about Murdoch University, feel free to add it to the university's page! I didn't erase your info, it's all there. Also, when you are creating a new article, it's a good idea to give it a specific title. Naming an article "Faculty of Arts and Education" might be confusing, because it could be an article about the Faculty of Arts and Education at any of a billion schools out there. Thanks for writing - IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 01:33, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Oh, sorry... actually I didn't delete your page, I moved it to your user page because I thought it was about you. Wikipedia has a policy against autobiographies and promotional pages, so those really belong in the author's user space, where he can describe himself. Talpiot program

I saw that on the 15.3 you deleted most of the graduates names. WHY?

You spent at most 3-4 minutes since your last edit till you finished to delete those names. I spent a few days organising the list. Why do yout hink that they are unsourced? Did you check a single one of them?

I will be happy to get an example of a mistake.

12:15, 15 March 2008 (hist) (diff) Talpiot program‎ (→Talpiot graduates (Talpionim): rm unsourced names, wikify remaining) 12:10, 15 March 2008 (hist) (diff) m User:SDubnov‎ (moved Shlomo Dubnov to User:SDubnov: user page) (top)

--YoavD (talk) 03:16, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

  • They are unsourced. That means they lack sources. In order to list someone on a page they should either have an article of their own or have a reference explaining their notability. It's not up to the reader to check the notability of every single name they read; they should not be listed unless they are sourced. I could list myself on 100 pages. But since there's no article about me, or a link to secondary sources explaining why I'm notable, somebody's going to delete my name, and rightfully so. Anybody can add anything to Wikipedia, you know. There is a system to prevent superfluous entries. - IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 03:41, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I think I corrected what you were talking about

On the Zane Morris page you noted I went in and cited the additional sources and added a link to this article in which Zane Morris was also mentioned in. This is my first page to edit and I had listed these in the wrong section. I added a second and third cite source on the page and asked about a fourth in the talk page for the nomination. Is this all I need to do? Like I said, this is my first page to edit and I want to make it correct. Thanks for catching the error by the way. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do. Hyperbeard (talk) 16:08, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Okay thanks for doing all that. No one has voted for deletion for the article, so it probably will not be deleted. Thanks for contributing. Cheers, IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 23:46, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

RinkWorks

The article is over four years old, and only now being proposed for deletion? If it gets deleted, please check the "what links here" list and handle each article linking to it accordingly. Personally I think RinkWorks is a great website, I visit it almost daily. But that alone is not an argument for its notability. JIP | Talk 06:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Moving pages etc.

Hi again! Just wanted to pop by and say what a great job you're doing with that list of California flora. I can't believe you're progressing so fast. I also noticed a couple page moves you've made recently, such as Largeleaf Avens, where you copied and pasted the content into the scientific name. I see that it would have required admin tools to move that page to overwrite the redirect (and others around that same time), so I can understand the urge to copy and paste the content. Perhaps, though, you might consider requesting these moves at WP:RM under "uncontroversial" citing WP:NC (flora) as the reason. Or when you find one or several that need to be moved, alert me on my talk page and I can move them for you. The purpose of that is to preserve the page history, something that is requried of us under the GFDL license and also to prevent Talk:Largeleaf Avens from being left behind (because now the plant project has a whole bunch of talk pages of redirects with project tags on them that takes some time and effort to fix via a page history merge). Thought I'd mention that in passing. Alternatively, since you seem to encounter this problem quite a bit, we could nominate you for adminship so you could use the tools and do the moves. If you're interested, I would love to nominate you for adminship, since you're an excellent Wikipedian who obviously has a need for the tools. Think it over and let me know. Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 03:15, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

For an example of a page history merge I just did, see the page histories of Geum aleppicum and Yellow Avens. WP:HM explains the process. Cheers, Rkitko (talk) 03:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Hi. Oops - Sorry I made more work for you! I think in the future I will just leave moves like that for the admins to do. Thanks for letting me know. If there's anything else I've been doing that could be done in easier ways just drop me a note. I guess I'm not really interested in being an admin. Thanks though! Cheers, IceCreamAntisocial (talk) 04:15, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
    • Oh, it's no problem. I just wasn't sure if you were aware of the requested move process. And by all means, if you find one like that you can let me know. If you ever change your mind on being an admin, I'd be the first in line to nominate you. Best, Rkitko (talk) 12:04, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
