Revert on Golam Mohammad Rabbani edit

@Ibrahim Husain Meraj:, Hi, I see you have reverted my changes at [1] without any explanation. Would you let me know that here. Thanks. Altaf (talk) 18:41, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for not giving any explanation. Actually I know him personally, thus I know about his religion. Thanks for understanding. Ibrahim Husain Meraj (talk) 18:52, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Ibrahim Husain Meraj:, thanks for your reply. Should wikipedia rely on one editor's personal opinion or we better stick to reliable sources ? In WP:BLPCAT it says "Category names do not carry disclaimers or modifiers, so the case for each content category must be made clear by the article text and its reliable sources."
@Ibrahim Husain Meraj: i am restoring my changes. If you still have confusions of my point, we'll settle through an admin and clarify things up. thanks for understanding. Altaf (talk) 21:02, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Md.altaf.rahman:, His name is Mohammad and he is from Bangladesh. So, whats the problem in Category:Bangladeshi Muslim ??? Please can you explain to me. Ibrahim Husain Meraj (talk) 21:20, 30 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Ibrahim Husain Meraj:, My full-name is Mohammad Altaf ur Rahman and I am from Bangladesh and I am not a Muslim :) If you prefer I can provide you with more examples. As I mentioned, last-name does not always dictate one's religious affiliation Altaf (talk) 20:22, 13 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for July 12 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bangladesh Army, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Armed Forces Medical College. Thanks for the thanks edit

With respect to your email, your curiosity is understandable, and I don't mind people asking. But I'm private by nature; the amount of information about myself that I'm comfortable disclosing is extremely limited.

If I've maintained NPOV, people looking at the content of my edits should never be able to tell anything about me personally. They may make assumptions based on the topics I choose to edit, when I edit, the language I use when editing, and so forth, but those assumptions may be inaccurate.

What is safe to assume is that I'm dedicated to improving, in whatever modest way I can, Wikipedia in general and in particular those portions of it in the scope of WikiProjects to which I belong, such as WikiProject Bangladesh. I look forward to continuing to work with you towards that goal. Worldbruce (talk) 17:11, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

First of all, thanks for your reply. I somewhat agree with your explanation.
But if you are Bangladeshi, then you would be from Noakhali District. A Bangladeshi will understand this. :P Ibrahim Husain Meraj (talk) 17:39, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Brigadier General Abdul Hafiz addressing the press, 19 September 2003, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Brigadier General Abdul Hafiz addressing the press, 19 September 2003, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MASEM (t) 03:22, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

September 2015 edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Habiganj District. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.  Sandstein  10:41, 10 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Possible copyright violation on OREDA edit

Hi, thanks for your warning on OREDA. I take copyright very seriously; a previous version of the article (created by another editor) was deleted for copyright violation, but I thought I had rewritten it sufficiently to address that issue. I'm confused by the specific source your tag says the article may be infringing, however. It is a "Quality Assurance / Quality Control and Uncertainty Management Plan for the U.S. Greenhouse Gas Inventory" (emphasis mine) and does not even mention OREDA or the words "offshore" or "onshore"; Offshore and Onshore Reliability Data (OREDA) is a European oil-drilling safety data collection program. At 149 pages, I'm loath to go through the U.S. Greenhouse Gas Inventory document checking manually for any overly-similar sections. Could you explain what made you think there was potential copying between the two documents, or offer suggestions for finding any instances of actual copying that won't take me a week of work? —GrammarFascist contribstalk 15:13, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Okay, in taking a longer look at this, I checked out the two tools linked in the warning template, and it's pretty clear there is no actual copyright violation. Duplication Detector's results were all for generic phrases like "the following table", "is also responsible for" and "at the same time", in pairs of sentences that were otherwise unrelated; Earwig's Copyvio Detector yielded a result of "Violation Unlikely" at 2.0% similarity.

I'm still curious what made you think there was a copyright issue with the OREDA article in the first place. Meanwhile, in the absence of any evidence of actual infringing content in the article, I will take the notice off in 24 hours unless you (or someone else) can give a good reason why it should stay. Thanks again for your vigilance in protecting Wikipedia from legitimate instances of copyright violation. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 02:48, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
