I have sent you a note about a page you started edit

Hello, Ibdawud

Thank you for creating Alfa Mohamed Diobo.

User:Celestina007, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Feel free to optimize google books when searching for sources. Note that it is mandatory that you make use of neutral words especially when writing a biographical article, avoid as much as you can, the use of promotional wordings such as you did in this article. See WP:PROMO & WP:NPOV. I have however cleaned up the article.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Celestina007}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

  • Comment — hey there, I just told you via feedback that use of promotional wordings in an article wasn’t proper and you just did this(after I had painstakingly cleaned up the article for you) why have you done so if I may ask? Celestina007 (talk) 02:03, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry. I saw the notification a bit late. Won't happen again. Ibdawud (talk) 02:38, 15 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sabon Zango moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Sabon Zango, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Kaado language edit

Thanks for your contributions to Kaado language and Songhay proper. Could you post your arguments for merging and renaming on Talk:Kaado language? Just make sure they follow the information on Glottolog. We also need a published source that says Kaado is a derogatory name. There are many publications using Kaado as the name (as listed here), so I wouldn't move it unless Ibdawud can provide a citation. — Sagotreespirit (talk) 18:05, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Anyways, I really appreciate your edits. Wikipedia needs more editors who know more about Niger and other lesser-known parts of Africa. Hope you decide to stay and continue contributing to Wikipedia! — Sagotreespirit (talk) 18:07, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for March 9 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited New Patriotic Party, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page UGCC. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:03, 9 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Takamba edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Takamba requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.musicinafrica.net/magazine/takamba-music-mali. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Onel5969 TT me 20:29, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Onel5969: I've made some improvement to the article. I've added more information and made the article more original. Ibdawud (talk) 01:24, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

"Do not restore or edit the blanked content on this page until the issue is resolved by an administrator, copyright clerk or OTRS agent" means exactly that. No admin reviewed it before I did. If they did, they would have removed the tag. Copyright violations must not be restored. MER-C 18:41, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@MER-C: Noted. New to Wikipedia. But I received a notification within the past 7 days saying the page "Takamba" has been reviewed by @HitroMilanese: that's why I went ahead with the edit. Thanks for the correction! Ibdawud (talk) 19:37, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Songhai (region) edit

The article Songhai (region) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The issue is that none of the sources actually refer to this as a region. The refs include info regarding the language, the former kingdom, and one of them refers to a "broad constellation of ethnic communities". None of the reliable sources talk about a "region". And the single ref to ethnic communities is not enough to show notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dendi Kingdom name edit

Please see Talk:Dendi Kingdom#Requested move 21 April 2021. ─ The Aafī (talk) 23:44, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@TheAafi: Thanks! but I've started a discussion on merging the Dendi Kingdom article into Songhai Empire. I think that would be better than moving it to "Songhai Kingdom". The fact that the Empire continued to flourish in it's Dendi province doesnt make it a Dendi Kingdom because it was still ruled by the same Askia dynasty. Feel free to contribute on the talk page of Songhai Empire. Ibdawud (talk) 00:10, 22 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Songhai Empire into Dendi (province). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 11:19, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

These services allow users to change their IP address by proxying their browsing traffic through another user's computer. As with any open or anonymizing proxy or VPN service, these IPs may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Decline reason: We usually don't casually lift proxy blocks for a single editor. But you can go to WP:IPECPROXY to request IP block exemption. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:26, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

IP block exempt edit

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit the English Wikipedia through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions. Inappropriate usage of this user right may result in revocation. I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. -- zzuuzz (talk) 09:19, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Africa GPD edit

Hello, thank you for your contribution to updating the GPD of African countries. I have reverted because of lack of sources. If you have a reliable source for everyone that you can add and update everyone to that source please re-add your contribution with it, and also update everyone else.

This is as different sources have different numbers. So if all countries have different sources, or no sources, then it becomes problems of chaos where the numbers mean nothing and editors of one country use this that is different than editors of another country using that. So it is best to update everyone to each source together, rather than one at a time to different sources that become messy.

I hope that makes since! If you have any questions, or if you would like to provide a source on the talk page for someone else to update everyone, that also would be good. Peace. BevoLJ (talk) 04:54, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Detty December edit

I left you a message here. Stop reverting my edits or I will alert experts to come and look into it because you can’t just rewrite history or claim Detty December which was originated in Nigeria. HistorianDele (talk) 11:57, 24 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

The article currently does not attribute “Detty December” explicitly to Ghana, but Ghana's version is notably the most discussed. Feel free to enhance the article by incorporating information about the Nigerian version, ensuring that credible sources support any additions. Wikipedia articles adhere to notability guidelines, and if the Nigerian aspect warrants it, consider creating a separate article dedicated to “Detty December in Nigeria.” This article, however, maintains its focus on Ghana. You're welcome to invite Wikipedia experts to review the content. In case of continued edit reversions, applying for page protection may be considered. Ibdawud (talk) 12:07, 24 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ibdawud I appreciate all your efforts, but I disagree with you on this. Nigeria’s Detty December where it was originated from is the most talked about in reliable sources. When you search Detty December on google what pops out? I have already a created stand alone in regards to this, Detty December in Ghana. We both can work together and improve the two articles but please do not vandalize the primary topic of its origin.
