Wikipedia generally only accepts polls from members of the British Polling Council for use on the project. Your poll has a number of problems. First, it's original research, which is against our policies. Second, it can't be accessed, as you have to have an account on Nextdoor to get to it. No one who's looking at it can verify it's true, or the methodology used. Third, it hasn't been picked up by any news sources. If it's picked up by BBC News, Sky News, The Guardian, or even a local paper, we could include it. But it hasn't, so we can't. And just because you're dissatisfied by your MP, or because you live in her constituency, doesn't mean that you can add material in violation of our policies. schetm (talk) 19:06, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Schetm,

Thank you for your reply.

If Wikipedia only ever accept mainstream polling and news outlets, then voices are being lost. The fact that you can't access the Poll on NextDoor doesn't make it invalid. If you had access, the citation is verifiable.

So I'd ask you for your help... How do we hold our elected officials to account? Does it really have to be 'big news' before Wikipedia can be updated? If so, that's a shame.

A lot of people are dissatisfied, not just me.

Wikipedia isn't your soapbox. It's not a newspaper. It doesn't exist to hold elected officials to account. That's just not its purpose. It's an encyclopedia. If you want your voice to be heard, write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, start a blog, or stage a protest. If you want this poll to be publicized, make it known to your local paper. If they do a story on it, it may be able to be included, but not until then. One of our rules is that you can't disrupt Wikipedia to make a point. If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia by adding this poll, your account may be blocked from editing. schetm (talk) 19:45, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Iankelly63, please stop adding this poll - it is against our policy. Persistence in doing so may result in a block on your account. schetm (talk) 20:36, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
