Things to avoid when designing assignments

edit

Hi, I'm thrilled to see you making an effort to fold Wikipedia into your courses. On our end, the project has been in recent overhaul and we're still figuring it out. A point I have been trying to make and have folded into the course materials for instructors hasn't yet taken hold. As a result, our materials could do a better job covering things instructors sometimes do which have unintended adverse consequences. Yep, you guessed it, I'm writing you because you fell victim to this hole in our support material. The issue is described in detail at Wikipedia_talk:Education_program/Educators#Things_to_avoid_when_designing_assignments. I confess I named your course as an example, but I don't mean to be singling you out or anything. As you may know our culture requires examples of problems before people take gripes seriously.. that's all I meant by picking on you, sorry. If my comment seems vague or unclear be sure to also read the various things I linked in making my argument. If it is still murky, I'll be glad to talk more about it. Just post a reply here and it will pop up in my watchlist. Cheers, and happy WikiTeaching! NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 14:21, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

Your account is currently configured with an education program flag. This system (the Courses system) is being deprecated. As such, your account will soon be updated to remove these no longer supported flags. For details on the changes, and how to migrate to using the replacement system (the Programs and Events Dashboard) please see Wikipedia:Education noticeboard/Archive 18#NOTICE: EducationProgram extension is being deprecated.
